I saw a "Green Lantern" preview and they're teaching him that he can create anything with his imagination and he goes with swords. The alien dude teaching him says that's so human.
I think my first thought would be more along X-men mutant powers. Swords are scary and fast. I'd rather blast someone from afar with fire and ice and force shields and such. Swords are also cool, but then you're limited to swords. You've got the entirety of your imagination and you're locking in to one thing? Then it's just who has a stronger imagination at being better at swords. Much more interesting to see how quickly you/your opponent can adjust to crazy. I love the wizard's duel in the Disney "Sword and the Stone". Rabbit, alligator, dragon, germ. Now that's creative.
