July 4th....and why I have a love/hate relationship with it

Ok so yeah I like July 4th, all the fireworks and patiotism and such...but I hate it for one big reason....it only seems that on this day do most people become even the least bit patriotic...and by patriotic I mean realizing why all of those things like the Declaration of Independence, and the Constitution were written. I guess it's just me being bitter, but I can't stand the whole thing of we're so concerned with our country one day and for the vast majority the other 364 1/4 (or 365 in a leap year) could really care less.

I guess it's just my upbringing in a house that stressed that voting was an essential right, and a great responsibility that made me so politically motivated in certain areas. I guess I love July 4th, for the fact that it's the day in which we celebrate the (well todays date) 230th anniversary of the greatest experiment ever, which though it has had some bumps, is still great.

I love my country, but well, I could stand to have a better government.
