Day Of Silence

Apr 26, 2006 11:34

Please understand my reasons for not speaking today. I support lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender rights. People who are silent today believe that laws and attitudes should be inclusive of people of all sexual orientations and gender identities. The day of silence is to draw attention to those who have been silenced by hatred, oppression, and prejudice. Think about the voices you are not hearing. What can you do to end the silence?

This is the third year I have participated in the Day of Silence, and every year I do it I get choked up. I truly support this cause, and for those of you who know me, Not talking is VERY hard. I know what it is like to be closeted, and I someday hope that everyone will be free from hiding in the closet. I hope that the next civil rights movement will be for Gay People, we need a gay Dr. Martin Luther King. That guy knew how to get things done. Maybe someday AnaCristina will be that person. Only time will tell.
