Because I'm curious, and because I can't cope with grading papers at the moment...

What are your three favorite animals, and why?

(Yes, of course, we can have slippery definitions of 'real' on this one...)

*laugh* You are very cute, hon. Yes, I meant species, not specific critters... (Considering this is you, I'm surprised you could pick just three...)

And shouldn't "good-looking cat" be in quotes? ;D

The Cat family in general
Llamas (this is a new development) cause they crack me up
Dragons

Dogs are cool too, but I don't know if they'll replace llamas any time soon.

  • Squirrels - smart (I may be wrong on that one, but I think so, anyway), adapt well to their environment (in the sense that they'll come beat you up for your lunch if you're, say, on a college campus), and they're cute to boot
  • Cats - lazy, playful, cuddly, and cute
  • Armadillos - Also cute, and can jump over fences. The armadillo thing's a long story.

Squirrels are extremely smart! They've done all kinds of things to make birdfeeders squirrel-proof, and the squirrlies crack the code anyhow.

don't believe in favorites on the whole, but I can give current-mood-based answers polymorphism December 7 2004, 16:46:49 UTC
1. kitties - they are necessary for sanity

2. inchworms - they are measuring the marigolds!

3. any critter which elicits that horror/fascination reaction from elision - twofold reason: a) I almost always do actually like them; b) when I say so, it's the only time anyone ever tells me I'm scary and I CRAVE that.

1) Cats--Crafty, independant, intelligent. Love the way they get you to do things for them, but make it look like you thought the idea up all by yourself.

2) Ducks--attitude. I find it comical that the Gods put so much attitude into something that is so small and has no arms. Maybe they needed a laugh, too.

3) Squirrels--tenacity. Talk about problem solving skills. You ever see them trying to get the food out of one of those "squirrel proof" feeders. They're like zombies. They never give up. Come to think of it, why hasn't anybody made a zombie squirrel movie?

I'll never forget this one time when I was in Boston on the Commons. I was sitting there on a wall eating a thing of McDonald's fries and this one squirrel came over, reached right in, and helped himself. Then he sat right beside me and ate it! How could you not admire a ballsy critter like that?
