I recently decided I would like to go to library school and would like to get into a program this fall. I have no experience working in a library, I don't even have volunteer work. I am going to start volunteering but need to apply now because I'm running out of time, so the volunteer work won't be listed on my resume. My question is this: How selective are library science programs, and do I have a chance of getting in even though I don't have experience? Or should I wait a year, volunteer, and look for a part-time job in a library so that I have some experience to list on my resume and have something to write about on my essay?
