Vietnam, Hanoi - Day 1
we sat on Mas airlines and i happily watched my show until the last 5 minutes...
they removed my headphones >:(
food was just so so... i slept for an hour before the food came..
the night before i slept at 230am and woke up by 5am to meet at the office
this is a all paid company trip... and my first time to vietnam =)
the bus from the office left at 6am, reached klia at 7am, checked in and flight was 9am
arrived at vietnam at approx 12 noon, after checking out and bus ride for an hour...
we arrived at Fortuna Hotel, Hanoi at about 145pm
we had a nice room...
nice vietnam painting hehe...
nice basin.. i like how the water flow like fountain..
and a jacuzzi !!!!
we we used at night hehe...
lunch was free and easy,
so we went to look for their famous vietnam beef noodles with some of the colleagues
food there is relatively cheap..
drinks like that is RM1.20... beer is only RM2
the beed noodles go for RM3 per bowl
small shops like these accept their currency dong..
but most places also accept USD... they charge much higher price for USD
so is better to change for dong to use in vietnam..
but i heard from people that it's not wanted here..
so if you have extra.. it seems that is hard to change back when u come back to msia..
but i'm not sure about that
the chop sticks looks as if they're 10 years old..
kinda gross if u look closely at it...
i suggest you bring your own cutlery to use if you're particular
the beef noodles were just alright..
not bad but i think us msians are used to the vietnam food in msia..
they're made custom to our tastebuds... tastier..
we stopped by a fruit shop and dad bought some longgans..
every other fruits sold were real...
except this...
but before we knew it was fake... we were amazed at how giant the grapes were..
until dad pressed it and said it was fake..
we didnt believe it was fake until we pressed it.. hmmm... fake grapes in a fruit shop ??
we had half an hour to kill after lunch so we checked out the pool area..
and saw someone swimming... nice see thru swimming pool !!!

laura dips her hand into the pool and create bubbles...
i went to check out the cake session..
see the cheese cake ? going got 50,000 dong per piece (RM7.75)
and 50% off after 6pm... heh heh heh.. you know what i'm going to do at night ;D
430pm our bus set off ... the tour guide brought us to the city area..
he dropped us near by the Hoan Kiem Lake area..
the tour guide lead us half way to a 'wholesale market' but left us half way..
terrible... we didnt manage to find the market...
let me tell you how to cross a vietnam street..
you walk really slowly across the street... never run or walk quickly...
the people on bikes and cars will just avoid you... thats just the way it works over there...
seems scary but thats the way ;D
but along the way we looked at some shops...
plenty of these around
selling vietnam hats...
we bought ours from a shop later on.. about RM 6 for that size
painting shop..
snacks shop.. dad bought some lotus seeds to munch on
laura and the lotus seeds
pyjamas for sale
tshirt / clothing shops.. plenty of these
and they dont have parking spaces available
so you can just stop your motobike in the shop itself..
the vehicles here consist approx 90% of motobikes
the architectures ... originated from the french people...
most of the shops didnt interest us..
i dont think this is the place for you if you like shopping...
also most clothes were winter like clothes
people like hanging out at the street side eating
their tables and chairs are really small.. at knee length
we saw lotteria !!! a fastfood chain we had in japan
and we got excited coz we loved the food we had the last time...
ordered a burger to share.. didnt wanna spoil our dinner which is next on the itinerary...
i super love the shrimp cheese burger !!
their lattee is not so nice...
at the lake... the Bridge to ngoc son temple
and the view from the bridge..
the ngoc son temple... it's close actually...
but people are just taking photos there
along the streets... plenty of helmets selling
and a croc costume... by the street side haha..
the bus picked us... and we're on our way to dinner..
the people here are really patient..
the bus would just do a u turn in the middle of a small T junction and everyone would just patiently wait!
we're just amazed 0_0
we've reached the dinner place ...
did not get the name of the restaurant..
but the food is really yummy !
small tables at the front.... their traditional table...
dinner is served... fried shrimp
tasty fish
spring rolls
steam chicken with nice chunky salt
upon exiting the dinner place...
back at the hotel... first thing i did... bought cakes... hehe
those truffles were not on 50% but they were delicious !!!
at RM 2 each... i couldnt resist baileys dark choc truffles...
they tried to con me, by charging me 4 truffles instead
and it took a while for them to get it, they had bill me 2 times
then the lady asked if i could buy it coz she already key in
i said nope
and then she said she could not cancel the bill cause she already key in
hey.. i'm no dumb tourist, i told her no way..
look how much i bought already.. !!! and then she proceeds to cancel the 2nd bill -___-
the jacuzzi we soaked ourselves in
after that carmen and anita came over and we shared the cakes and laughed over cooking shows
disturbing shaun from concentrating on the show hehehhe.....
after everyone left... laura and i tuck ourselves into bed..
and laura asked why are we sleeping so early ?
it hit me... why dont we go visit the casino down stairs ???
we called shaun cause i knew he wouldnt be sleeping yet
anita and carmen had already gone to dream land
and so we did.. hehehe
dad was there, he was playing the roulette... and i always thought no one could win these things
but his numbers got hit a couple of time
of coz he picked a couple of numbers at a time..
apparently u keep picking the same numbers that came out before..
it really works...... i'm amazed...
dad played USD50 and won 300 (and the same on the 4th day)
i was more interested in the free food hehehee...
there were 2 trays of food and on the other tray..
custard bun with longan... yum !!!!!
