Man City v Timisoara

Aug 27, 2010 12:30

BACK. As you may know if you were watching, Poli lost 0-2 and were kicked out of the Europa Cup, but I knew that was coming. On to the other stuff.

Here are two observations that Man City should add to their currently useless website:

1. If you express a fondness for the opposing team, we will refuse to sell you tickets until matchday, at which point we will capriciously change our minds and seat you with the Poli ultras. (Phew!)
2. Though we claim our stadium is called “The City Of Manchester Stadium”, every signpost in Manchester points to something called Sports City. Unless you follow these signs you will get hopelessly lost and end up in somewhere called Failsworth, which seems oddly appropriate.

Anyway, we got our seats in Britain’s biggest Roma population south of the Appleby Horse Fair and saw the match. Paddy and David Silva played the full 90 minutes, Mario was not there at all, and I forgot about Mancio totally because I was engaged in the important activity of shrieking and clapping. I now know more Romanian football chants than, well, anyone who isn’t Romanian, although I’m still not sure which ones have rude words in. (The “Fifa mafia” one particularly confused me.)

This was my second football match, the first being Poli-Ajax last year, and ancient_bat’s second football match, the first being East Fife-Raith Rovers in 1955. She thought this one was better than her first one.
