Today: I give it a 7.

It was bright and breezy this morning, and it got to about 85 degrees in the heat of the day. I rode my bike down to The Olive, a relatively new restaurant here in Beijing that's not far from my house.
I ordered an iced mocha (which turned out to be an iced cappucino with a little chocolate drizzled over the foam on the top, but it was still tasty), and banana pancakes with warm maple syrup. The portion was just right, 3 small palm-of-your-hand sized banana pancakes, garnished with the aforementioned syrup, some mint and a little bit of softened butter alongside. I enjoyed the sunshine, the (relatively) clear sky, and a nice talk with my new friend Vishal, who works as a manager there. He's Punjabi Indian, and we really seemed to have a lot to talk about. He even acted like he was inviting me to go to India for his cousin's wedding next year. We exchanged phone numbers and he said he'd call me to get together at the Pavillion Club soon to watch one of the World Cup semifinals on the big screen and have a drink. I'm really looking forward to it, and I have a feeling we'll be really good friends!

Suddenly I feel like watching "Bend it Like Beckham." Hmm. ;)

friends, eating, beijing, me
