Quotes

I've been wanting to do this since Friday, but as I said in my last post, time has been a precious commodity lately. I want to know what quotes you find memorable, important, or inspirational. I don't care if they are cheesy movie quotes, historically important quotes, or things your grandmother said back in 1984 (unless it's "You'll poke yer eye out").

I'll go first. It's sappy, I know, but I like the poem that's written on the base of the Statue of Liberty. The most well-known part is, of course:

"Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me.
I lift my lamp beside the golden door."

Emma Lazarus

"Wish not so much to live long as to live well."

Benjamin Franklin

"Many people think that if they were only in some other place, or had some other job, they would be happy. Well, that is doubtful. So get as much happiness out of what you are doing as you can and don't put off being happy until some future date."

Dale Carnegie
