My mother always warned that when something you do for pleasure no longer becomes anything but a chore to do, it was time to move on with your life and let it go.
Cherrystyle was created nearly three years ago by an amazing woman and designer as a labor of love. She was kind enough to share it with the rest of us who were not nearly as talented or that didn't have the time/interest in making our own layouts. Over the remaining three years she made it into a large community that has created some of the greatest and most popular layouts on LiveJournal (and GreatestJournal!).
When she could no longer devote the time she wanted to and when it became a chore for her, three of us took it over ourselves so that it would not languish. The new Cherrystyle held to the same quality and ideals as the original and we've had a good run of just over a year ourselves.
Unfortunately (or sometimes fortunately) times change and with that things in our lives change as well. Some of us no longer have the time or interest to devote to Cherrystyle and some of us have become frustrated in general with both LiveJournal and the people who use it. Whatever our individual reasons it is time that Cherrystyle changes yet again. This time we are closing it down for good.
The website will be taken down, the community comments locked, and ownership given back to the original owner. Please do not come to the maintainers' personal journals to bug them about this. Our decision is final.
I cannot say what the other maintainers and designers will do, as that is a decision for them to make on their own. We may return to designing with time, but no longer will do so through this community.
