LIFE, AUSTIN, AND
She loved another during girlhood, that sort of passion that flares up when you’re young. A time when love and ideas seem to be one’s personal discovery, free to say or do anything, to refuse the future that’s offered and demand another, far grander and stranger, devised and owned wholly by oneself, owing nothing. In her first youth, the future is opening up, and she comes to her senses. Trusting, when she reaches her desired destination, the precise nature will reveal itself.
THIS MOMENT IN JUNE.
She thinks of the love of that girl, she remembers why she left- because it wasn’t a part of her future plan. The acceptance, the commodity, and how she starved for being alone in a new city. She has learned over the years- sanity involves impersonation for the sake of one’s own convictions, author meets reader.
Austin, work selflessly, go on adventures in the late afternoons, and dance with friends, dress comfortably. There is a true art in it, this desire of tea and dinner tables, and this correctness. The search for God has manifested itself into a beautiful social subject, done over yoga, talked about over coffee, and sometimes felt through the power of an orgasm. On drives, memories have planted themselves at local bars and coffee shops. Same chair, same pool table, different people.
She walks through the door, completely in command of the character she’s created. Lounges on the couch, puts her foot up as her girlfriend rubs it. She wonders- how do some people do it? How do some people remain, every hour, every minute- the exact same? She thinks back on previous selves, previous friendships, and previous encounters, all that have led to this moment. She looks across the coffee table, admires the green eyes that stare at her in admiration. She thinks back at past eyes, flooded with a warm fuzzy feeling inside, thankful- the chattering is over, the smile comes effortlessly.
