old fashioned bliss
today at work, there were several patients waiting and we were running about an hour and a half behind schedule. As you can imagine, some of the people were getting a little cranky (and rightly so). There was a sweet older woman who was in much pain talking to the man next to her about her different ailments. When the nurse called this man back into the room to see the doctor, he said that the woman can go ahead of him.
i was so touched by that. NO ONE does that. no one.
when the man was leaving, i expressed to him how kind i thought he was by letting the woman go ahead of him. he just smiled and said "chivalry isn't dead, is it?"
