(no subject)
this month has certainly been a crazy one.
my dad left me a disturbing message in the beginning of the month. he said, "your grandpa is dying, please give us a call." and he sounded all choked up. so i called and my mom said that it was serious this time. usually he goes for little things, but this time he didn't even ask to go to the hospital. so i went home for the weekend because my mom insisted that it could be the last time i would see him. so i did and i went to the ICU and he looked so helpless laying there with a tube down his throat. for the first couple days, my family said that he wouldn't open his eyes or move for anyone, but he did for me. he held my hand and he sang me a lullaby with his hands. and when i told him i'd see him again soon, he nodded.
everyone thought he was going to get better. two days later, my mom called and told me that he passed away. it didn't really hit me yet. it hadn't hit anyone yet that my grandpa was really gone. my dad's family is a big one. 10 kids: 5 boys 5 girls. 20 grandkids, 6 great grandkids. so you could imagine the funeral and wake. everyone showed up.
during the eulogy, my auntie mentioned my grandpa raising us, and like a chorus, we all started crying.
the day he died, it was him and my grandma's 60th wedding anniversary
1 day after he died, my aunt gave birth to a baby girl. they named her abbygayle joelene after my grandpa joe
1 day after he died, my mom was rushed to the emergency room to have a gallstone removed
1 week after he died, it was my mom and dad's 25th wedding anniversary
last last sunday i went back to hawaii
last monday was his wake, last tuesday was his funeral
last saturday, my mom and dad renewed their vows and we had a big family party
last sunday i came back to cali
this coming sunday, my brother's coming to stay with me for a month because my mom and dad are going to europe for a month
so... didn't i tell you may was crazy?
