GUNS N ROSES was CANCELED.
First postponed, then canceled. I knew in my heart that it wouldn't happen once it was postponed. Apparently, they need the time to get Chinese Democracy ready to release tentatively on March 6. I'll believe that when I see it. But like my brother said, canceling shows to work on an album is LAME. I know that this isn't the real Guns 'N Roses, and I've actually seen 3/5 of the original band twice already, but it's Axl. And they do play all GNR stuff, obviously. Axl, even though he's going off the deep-end or has already done that, is still one of the best frontmen in rock music - and I have to see him.
GNR was the first band with which I became, well, obsessed. Something about the gritty and raw-ness of "Appetite" struck me in a way no other band or album had before. This may sound strange, but think about it - most of you have some band or artist, book or other form of artistic expression that got to you - I think most of us have multiple ones in various forms. Like Siddhartha, which changed me in the 11th grade. I began to realize myself upon reading that book. Films have that effect on my as well. Trying to think back a pick the movie that made me want to work with them is terribly hard - so, I'll go with what my mom always says: Back to the Future. From my mother's womb, she claims I saw it more than 3 times since it was a cool place to take my brothers in the hot Alabama August, and it could have subconsciously intstilled in me this passion for film (not to mention love for BTTF - a staple in the Robertson kids tradition of inserting movie lines in normal conversation).
