no job...no money to spend...this holiday is turning out to be one of the worst ever...
in the past i was always swamped with job offers during the hols...now i'm just sitting around at home doing nothing...i mean facebooking, online shopping and a whole host of non-productive online activities 24/7 don't really count as something...
sure i've gotten my pay from Singhealth...but it's not substantial enough to see me through the Great Singapore Sale and my mad love for shopping plus other money-spending activities...like clubbing and doing the pubbing circuits...
a short rundown on what i've been up to at home...online...
i watched all these shows online on this fantabulous website
tom365...
the reason why even came to know of this website is because of Elvin...we took the same bus home one evening (he stays in MacPherson) and there i was complaining about how lag i was cos' i haven't caught Hot Shot when it finished its run in Taiwan last year. So he promised me to give me the links to this website that has all the episodes in HD since its so terribly difficult to catch them on YouTube (what with all the copyright laws and all -- drives me crazy really). So YEAH i'm done watching them!!! my apologies to O~ne for distracting her while she was preparing for her term exams. =p
from here i found m new prince...Kim Hyun Joong...heart him to the max...i have this unending trend for falling for all the Hua Ze Lei characters be it the Taiwan, Japan or Korean version...my prince charming...*faints* (yah i know i have an unending list of 'husbands'...weakness i'll probably always have despite the age...hah.)
O~ne decided to watch this movie for some reason still unknown to me...(maybe because Gabriel just re-watched it..?) anyway i was still super sad even this must be the nth time i'm watching this epic...if i were Rose i think i'll sooner give up then fight for my chance to live...imagine the sheer willpower...i need more mental training or something...
i encouraged O~ne to watch this because she has been complaining that she has zero fate in catching it...i thought it was a really interesting and refreshing take on the original Shakespearan text...unfortunately i don't think everyone could appreciate the juxtaposition of the story in a modern context with the use of the old English in the dialogue...Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes looked crazy young in this movie...amazingly fresh...and now look what age has done to Leo...now he looks so MAN...i'm not saying he looks bad though.
I've got a few favourite tracks from the movie...
Radiohead's Talk Show Host is exceptionally sexy with the guitar riffs in the background...i can imagine a dance set to this song...a dark stage with a couple of strong dances...naturally it'll be a contemporary piece...maybe 3 dancers at most...their moves different yet complementary to each other...beautiful red costumes...definitely sexy...
Garbage's #1 Crush is a fairly interesting track...another dance song potential...melancholic...destructive...more dancers though...very intimate very explosive...a couple of headbanging moves scattered around...couple dances...a dark stage...mmm...
Des'ree's Kissing You is just sad really...i especially love the bridge...they used that part during Romeo and Juliet's chance encounter by the fish tank...
Stina Nordenstam's Little Star seems suitable for those shops which are going for the whimsical girly theme...
"Romeo Romeo where for art thou Romeo..."
"by the hour of nine..." this line especially got O~ne in knots..."what happened to plain ol' nine o'clock?" lol.
O~ne and i agreed on watching this movie together...cos' we missed it at the theatres and kx said it was a very good movie...thank goodness then i didn't spend money to watch it...it's so...BIMBOTIC...like i-can't-believe-it BIMBOTIC...she talks with this airy voice that seems like she permanently breathless...i should try it someday though...seems like fun...just to irk the hell out of my friends...though how long i will last remains to be seen...
i was just browsing through the movies catalogue trying to decide on what movie to watch when O~ne and i decided on this cos' i didn't catch at the theatres...again...(yes there are a couple of movies that seem to have left a void of sorts in my life...trying to catch up on them...for free...) well this is another movie i'm thankful i didn't pay money to watch...it's crazy OVER-DRAMATIZED but i have to give my hats off to Lindsay's character for turning up in school in all sorts of outfits...but the name of the band sounds too mad to be cool...
my bad really for missing this while it was showing...i think i was WORKING again...yes i'm a workholic when i'm at it...in any case this movie made me want to move again...mmm...feel like taking up salsa lessons...to move and sway like that...it's really WOW...i want to have that kind of confidence...that kind of self-assuredness...enviable...
i loved the soundtrack too...i remembered back when it was showing O~ne brought home the OST borrowed from a friend...the track that really stood out from the rest of the RnB hip-hop mix was
Kem's Fascination. It's one of those songs that i can imagine being played while a lady is preparing for a date in her boudoir...while she's busy prettying herself up...this piece wafts thrugh the powdered air of her room...nice...
"Qué Será, Será (Whatever Will Be, Will Be) is another lovely track that plays in the background in the movie...i really heart this song...it may seem like a resignation of sorts but the melody is so beautiful so yah...i really love it...
on the subject of dance movies how can i pass up on re-watching THIS? i love her moves...for those not in the know Jenna DeWan acted in both Take the Lead and Step Up AND she and Channing Tatum are now ENGAGED!!! really happy for this super sweet compatible couple...i liked how they found a balance in meshing both the softness and elegence of contempory dance with that of hip-hop...my favourite scene would have to be the 'balcony' scene where she is sharing with him her visions on chereography...damn i'm itching to dance like crazy...i get really confused...sometimes i'm batting for the hip-hop-esque dance while other times i juz wanna do contemporary pieces...am gonna try to catch the Next Wave this year...
the ost wasn't as outstanding as Take the Lead but i might edit this entry if i change my mind about it...
Channing Tatum inevitably leads to this...we decided to do a search...so yes, we re-watched this...(more like i re-watched it since O~ne was away for tuition) its as funny as the first time i watched and the second and third...i think this should be the fourth time...and i'm glad i watched this at the theatres...should i throw a sleepover this will be a must watch~!
a search for Amanda Bynes throws up this too...wasn't too interested till i looked it up on wiki...it is kinda cheesy and predictable since it IS based on the Snow White and Seven Dwarves fairytale...funnily enough i knew my fairytales not from Hans Christian Andersen BUT from Disney...if not for Disney haha...but i must say it is fairly watchable...Bynes is a delightful actress...AND i like it that she steers away from the status quo of the many reed thin young actresses in Hollywood.
O~ne wanted to re-watch this as i was trying to steer away from movies we've watched previously...but i'm glad we did...it has to be one of the better Christmas romantic feel-good movies...it is just nice without being cloyingly sweet...but yes FEEL-GOOD indeed. I LIKE.
-shall update as and when the number of movies watched/re-watched becomes substantial...-
