When Will the Musumes Graduate? Part One

Mar 17, 2007 07:06

Sorry I haven't posted for a while. I've been rather busy lately wasting my time on tds_rps. However, I have a post today, about Morning Musume.

Morning Musume originally started out as a five-girl group- Kaori Iida, Yuko Nakazawa, Natsumi Abe, Aya Ishiguro, and Asuka Fukuda. As time went on, however, members came and went. Unlike most groups, this was not a sign of a downfall. In fact, this was tradition in MoMusu. Graduations have always been on of the defining points of MoMusu, having borrowed the idea from the Onyanko Club's rotating member system. However, Hello!Project have made this their own, with members graduating to either a non-idol life, or to be part of another H!P group or a H!P solo artist.

Of course, the current members of Morning Musume would have to graduate as well. I've been thinking about this, and have decided to come up with my own list of the order the current Musumes would graduate, and what they would do. I'm not counting Yossie, since we already know that she will be graduating in May, or Micchi, Li Chun, and Qian Lin, sice they're new and we haven't really their full potential yet.

This series will be in two parts, the first part covering half of the members, and the other half being covered in part two.

1. Miki Fujimoto. Joined H!P- 2002(as a soloist); Joined MoMusu- 2003(6th Gen)
Predicted Graduation- October 2007, will stay in H!P
As should be pretty obvious by now, Mikitty is my favorite member. However, she's been looking really bored in MoMusu, and she now has GAM with Aya Matsuura. While her bitchy attitude has been one of my favorite parts of seeing her in MoMusu, she might also lose one of my favorite parts about her as an idol in general-her pride in her performance. Mikitty clearly knows she's good, and she seems to play it up as much as she can. However, she may just be so bored in MoMusu that she'll stop showing off her skills and looks in future MoMusu performances, which would bring the group down, especially since she'll be leader soon. However, she loves performing with Ayaya as GAM, and would probably like her solo carrer back, so she'll definately stay in H!P.

2. Ai Takahashi. Joined H!P/MoMusu- 2001(5th Gen)
Predicted graduation- December 2008, will stay in H!P
Ai Takahashi is one of the most vocally talented members in H!P, and will definately be staying there. She's already released one solo single online, and I could see her releasing some real singles before graduating, as preparation and promotion for a solo career. The only thing holding her back from being a solo idol is her lack of personality. I think that her time as sub-leader, and then leader, would help her gain a real idol persona, not the boring girl with the great voice and look. I think that Aichan has been rather shy to show what she's like-for all we know, she could be really wild inside, but is shy to show her true self. I think her verse in "Joshi Kashimashi Monogatari" really shows this, with her trying to hide her accent, her "true self." I think that if given a chance to really show off her personality (maybe a regular section on Hello!Morning or a magazine column or something), she could prove to be more interesting. If not, and she really is that boring, she could do well in a group, though I'd love to see her go solo.

3. Reina Tanaka. Joined- 2003(6th Gen)
Predicted graduation- February 2009, will stay in H!P
Yes, I know that's not long after my predicted graduation for Aichan, but I think Reina is ready. I'd give her a solo career, because she's vocally talented and really cute. She's one of the Musumes with a lot of personality, so I think she could be really successful as a solo artist. Hopefully they'd bring back her old yanki image and give her songs with a rock or hip-hop edge!

I'd love to here what others think, and people's ideas for Risa, Eri, Koharu, and Sayumi. I already have all my ideas about Koharu and Sayumi, and a few about Risa and Eri, but I'd love to see what others think (especially about Risa and Eri since those are the ones I'm unsure about)

morning musume, when will the musumes graduate?, hello!project, miki fujimoto, jpop
