A Survey and some other stuff....

May 25, 2008 13:06

Taking this survey from fellow J-Pop and Red Sox fan broomhead of True Life Seek. He wanted to know, and I thought it would be a good way to start blogging again. I was in a bit of a rut as well, but I'm trying to start posting things, even if they are very little.

The other ones are linked to here, here, here, here, and here, though I'd especially reccomend this one by pinkocracy, as it's what inspired me to write my own.

Goals:

Why do you blog?
-To find people to talk about my interests with. I don't know a lot of people in real life who have the same fandoms I do, so I can talk about my fandoms here.

What long-term goals do you hope to accomplish, if any at all?
-To make friends, I guess. This blog is just as it is called, "spontaneous," and I have no goals really.

Where does your blog fail to meet your goals?
-I know I said I have no goals, but when I don't post for awhile I get disappointed in myself.

If you do have goals, what will accomplishing them do for yourself?
-Um, I have no true goals?

What do you want to gain out of blogging? A creative outlet? Praise from others? Personal satisfaction? Money?
- I WANT YOUR SOULS!!!...No, really, I just want people I can talk with, whether it's praise or debate. Ans since I do post my art up here too, I guess there is the "creative outlet" ascpect as well.

Do you feel that your blog should meet a requirement for amount of entries? Do you feel any particular entry should be a certain length?
-I feel I should post at least once or twice a month. Length isn't really something I think about, just that it's not a useless post that doesn't really say anything.

For any particular entry, what motivates you to start and finish blog posts?
-That I want to get out my idea so I don't forget it.

Do you actively consider long term goals for each individual post?
-No, though I do think about what I should post long before I do.

Subject Material:

What do you blog about?
-J-Pop, baseball, yaoi/slash/BL, anime, manga, TV, Disney Channel, your mom, occasionally politics. What don't I blog about?

Would you be keep a blog even if it wasn’t about the subjects you tend to cover?
-No, I'd probably only keep a blog if I had something to blog about. As I mentioned above, I pretty much blog about everything.

Do you write about the material to promote it to others?
-I do try to promote my fandoms to people who would've otherwise not heard about it. I know that I have non-J-pop friends on here, so I try and promote J-Pop to them in particular, but I'd love to spread interest of all my fandoms.

Readership:

How much do you care about readership?
-I don't care about how big it is, just what kinds of comments they leave.

Does it satisfy you to know people are reading, even if they don’t comment?
-I do like knowing that people are hearing my thoughts, but since I blog so I can have conversations, it's not as fulfilling.

What effect does receiving a comment have on you?
-A very, very positive one, especially if it a long, detailed comment. Even criticism (as long as it isn't mean) is good as long as it's detailed. I like the short ones that are just "lol nice" less, but they still make me happy. And short ones can still be insightful or funny.

Do you write with a particular audience in mind or an unspecified general audience? Why?
-No, I just try to write what I feel and hope for an audience. Each entry tends to have it's own audience. For example, my previous two entries were baseball specific (though one dealt with the anime/manga/idol term "moe" as well, but in the context of baseball)

If you write for a particular audience, is it International Wota? If yes, why?
-IW is just one of my audiences.

Community: (The International Wota section)

If International Wota didn’t exist, would you blog?
-Yes. American Wota was my inspiration to start a blog. Without the IW community, probably not as much.

When IW covers an entry of yours, are you encouraged to blog more or less?
-More! I like knowing what people think of my blog.

When IW does not cover an entry, are you encouraged to blog more or less?
-I have many posts about things other the J-Pop (for example, my two previous posts were both about baseball), so I don't expect them to all be covered.

How often do you read other blogs?
-All the time. I spend most of my time online reading other blogs/LJs.

How often do you comment on other blogs?
-Not enough. Sometimes I feel what I wanted to say has been said by others already.

If another blog covers a topic that you wanted or wished to cover, do you still blog about that specific topic? Why or why not?
-Yes, as I may have a different take on that subject. For example, others have made H!P vs. Disney posts, but I'm still writing one since I feel I have a different perspective as a Disney fan.

Commitment:

How serious is your attitude towards blogging? Do you consider it just as something to do for fun?
-Not too serious of recent, though with my personal life calming down I hope to blog more seriously now.

How often do you blog? How often would you like to blog?
-Not often! xD I hope to post at least once a week from now on, but my personal life was very hectic for awhile and I just didn't have the energy to post.

What priorities do you or have you put aside in order to blog? Why?
-My personal life, obviously, but that's about it. I try to blog as much as possible.

Do you see yourself blogging in 6 months? Why or why not?
-Yes, as I will always I have topics I'm passionate about to write on.

Personal:

Would you say you blog for yourself?
-Sort of. I blog to make friends, so in a way it's for myself, but it's so I can find others.

What is your feeling after posting an entry? Is it relative to the time and effort you put in an entry?
-"Yay-oh shit, is that a typo?" I always realize after I post my entry that I screwed up my HTML!

What needs does blogging fulfill?
-The need to express myself, the need to talk to people.

Do you consider yourself a writer?
-Not really. Well, not a serious writer, but I write, so I guess I'm a recreational writer.

Do you consider yourself good at writing? Good at blogging?
-Not really, as I don't make many posts, and most of my posts are really silly. I've made some really good posts in the past, but not really of recent. I hope to improve though.

How much of your personal life do you share on your blog? If none, why do you leave this out?
-Not a lot, as I'm really private. The only people online who know what I look like or my real name are my in-real-life friends. I choose to leave this out as I don't like talking about my personal life.

I saw "Iron Man" yesterday. OMFG, amazing! I love that Tony is so cool, smart, and witty, but we see him screw up and make mistakes. My favorite scene is probably the one where we first see him as the scrap-metal Iron Man. I'm not gonna say anymore since I don't want to spoil the movie, but I totally wasn't expecting it to be that cool! And I think everyone knows this by now, but you have to stay until after the credits! I think I may have to jump into Iron Man fandom now ^^

I'm watching the Indy 500 now with 1863_project and mydarkloard. I'm rooting for Danica Patrick- yeah, cliche, I know, but I'm an AGR fan, and it'd be cool to see her win. But I love Indiana JonesMarco Andretti, Helio Castranoves, and Tony Kanaan as well, so if theywin, it'd still be awesome. Or if Marco's Indiana Jones racing outfit got a life and car of its own and won. Actually, I'd like that better than Danica winning. But it ain't gonna happen ;) And neither is Hideki Mutou, Steph! xD Though he is awesome. And neither would the adorable Graham Rahal, even though I kinda have the urge to ship him with IndianaMarco.

WAIT, WHO THE HELL IS THIS ROOKIE JUSTIN WILSON?!

More later....
