SO UM THE NEW FLORENCE + THE MACHINE ALBUM. I JUST FINISHED LISTENING TO IT, AND I FEEL...
If you can't tell, I love it. It's not a complete repeat of "Lungs", but they still sound connected, and further shows why Florence is so unique. "What The Water Gave Me" is my favorite song on the album at the moment, but I've been blasting it since it was released as a promo single so I think I have to give the other tracks a chance. It might become my favorite Florence song in general though, IDK. It's just...perfect. Weird and dark and rocking and beautiful and omfg her voice, i can't...but yeah, I've only heard it once so far, and I'm already loving it, and I know that I'm going to enjoy it more with each listen.
I also listened to Biophilia, Björk's newest, which I'm kind of meh on at the moment. My view of teh album might be clouded over my annoyance that the mix of "Crystalline" on the album was changed from the single version. Over the summer, I was obsessed with that song, and the album mix doesn't quite capture the sparsely dance feel that made me love the song at first listen. Now it's too crowded sounding, and the break at the end doesn't hit as hard. The entire album could have a bit more "oomph" to it, though I really do love the vocals, lyrics, and interesting instrumentation. It's almost great, but ends up being not quite exciting enough. She did the quiet yet bold sou d perfectly in Vespertine, so I know it's not impossible for her. Though, who knows, maybe with a couple more listens I'll be loving it and this paragraph will mean nothing. Maybe my headphones are just shit xD
I also bought Miranda Lambert's newest, which I have yet to listen to, and I totally forgot that Nicola Robert's put her album out last month, so I'm going to find a copy of that too. So, yay for new music!
ETA: OMG I totally forgot this because of my Tennant gif finding, but in "Bedroom Hymns" she sings the word "absolution" twice and I may have gone all uhapghipuoptiaeghlhjiarl;nhulsrbhkj
