Fifty-three years and still kicking ass!
I have a terrible memory for birthdays. So when I saw that my mother was watching Madonna's "Frozen" video, I was suprised when she said that she was watching it for Madonna's birthday. So, in honor of the birthday of one of my favorite musical artists of all time, and someone who has been one of my inspirations since I was eleven years old, here are some of my favorite performances of hers!
"Ray of Light" from Drowned World Tour
It was really difficult to choose a Drowned World Tour performance, since it's my favorite tour of hers, but I went with "Ray of Light" because it's really fun and energetic, and because of Madonna's outfit here. The look she has in this clip is one of my favorite she's worn. It's rock but still high fashion, which is what Madonna is all about!
"Deeper and Deeper" from The Girlie Show Tour (SERIOUSLY NSFW)
"Deeper and Deeper" is actually one of my favorite Madonna songs, despite my bizarre and irrational fear of Erotica's album art that stem from my childhood (I don't know why, but as a kid the cover and all of the weird fetish art associated with the album freaked me out and I haven't been able to shake it yet). This is just a really fun and ridiculous performance.
"Keep It Together" from Blonde Ambition Tour
This is probably my favorite of all of Madonna's live performances. It makes me wish I had a bunch of Madonna obsessed friends so I could reenact it! It's especially great to see this at the end of Truth or Dare, where you see her bonding with her dancers and then doing this number about family with them. Only, you know, a family the grinds against each other in bondage outfits and knee pads xD
