NYC POST.

So I haven't updated in a while and thought I'd just kind of dump everything that's happened recently into one awkward entry! ^-^

So I just got back from New York City, where I saw The Seminar with Alan Rickman! It was a really fantastic show. It's kind of like a less TV appropriate version of House for aspiring writers. Alan Rickman is a private writing instructor teaching 4 graduate students, and he's totally an ass about it. And there's a lot of other cool plot things going on with Kate, Martin, Izzy, and Douglas, who is very concerned about the exterior and interior of things xD

After the show, my friend and I waited for the cast outside the stage door. We met everyone but Alan and Lily, who played Kate, and they were all very nice! They very much appreciated being asked questions and told us they liked our outfits...

Well, here comes backstory. We actually came to New York to try to see Darren Criss in How to Succeed in Business. In preparation, we'd made some beautiful Scarves of Sexual Preference out of rainbow fleece. We left my house at 6AM to get in line at 8:15 to get rush tickets (which were sold at 10). Of course I knew it would be kind of crazy there and that we may not get tickets, since he's only on for 3 weeks. But I did get tickets to see Daniel Radcliffe this way, so I thought there may be hope.

There was hope, actually. The sad part is that (despite the large amount of people who appeared to have literally camped out all night to get these tickets) we actually made it all the way to the counter before the tickets had sold out. Unfortunately, there was ONE ticket left when we got to the register. Yes, we were literally 1 person too late. But we refused to acknowledge that we'd really just stood in line for 2.5 hours and could no longer feel our feet (43 degrees Farenheit, my ass! Thank god for those scarves). Instead, we went to a Starbucks located in a very posh Mariott on 8th, drank coffee, and went up and down the elevator for half an hour. By the way, that elevator is spectacular! 45 floors of awesome! I highly recommend it. As we discussed what else we could do, I remembered reading about a new play starring Alan Rickman in the New York Times. I'd watched a trailer and thought it looked awesome. In fact, the theater was across the street from the Mariott, and about half a block up from the H2S camp. And there had only been a handful of people in line for those rush tickets!

So, after that brief coffee break/foot-warming excursion, we hopped in line for The Seminar. While waiting (for a significantly shorter amount of time), a girl walked down the street wearing her own handmade scarf of sexual preference, and we had a photo op/meet and greet. She (being significantly less cheap than us) had bought her H2S tickets online in advance. But no matter. After all, I bet Darren Criss would be jealous that we were seeing Alan Rickman!

For the record, I love Darren Criss and know that he had no personal control over my lack of tickets. However, in my exasperation, I will continue to blame him and make fun of him for those 2 1/2 hours in the cold.

BTW, we got SO MANY PROPS on those scarves. I'll post pics if anyone's interested. Considering that was the first time I've operated a sewing machine in over a year (and trust me, I wasn't exactly an expert then, either), they turned out very nice. Jo Ann's has a nice array of brightly colored fleece, and we got large black buttons and felt from Wal-Mart. They were 60" long and wide enough to hide your face in when it is freezing during a long wait for H2S tickets.

We also realized while we were probably misinterpreted by many a passerby. After all, we were 2 girls with very short haircuts in oxfords and rainbow scarves...we did get some amusing looks.

IN OTHER NEWS, I WATCHED STARSHIP. And it was AWESOME. I'm in love with the soundtrack!!! My inner AP Theory nerd is currently analyzing the use of chords and reprises. It's simply marvy. And other other news, Junior/Brian Holden is kind of an evil, sexy beast. I kind of want to write fic based around the tone/feel of "Kick it Up a Notch" (as well as the reprise). I mean, I know that the HP fandom and R/S really have nothing to do with the story of Starship (they are two awesome, but separate things), but the style of that song, as well as its theme are really versatile and HOT. Too weird? Well, I'd definitely appreciate feedback. I'm kind of thinking about maybe a sexual tension fic, where Remus is frustrated being underemployed and living with Sirius, because he can feel the chemistry, but is too paranoid to really do anything. And just a general MWPP&Lily kicking it up a notch, because they're not satisfied with the way things are going. Maybe James and Lily are not being completely honest with each other about things they're annoyed about,
