Babies were one of the reasons I decided to really get into shape and change my eating habits.. I have always been keen on the idea of home-made organic baby foods and vowed it was something I could swing (as long as I didn't end up with triplets or something! lol)
The fact that the child shares my body for almost a year, eating and growing on what I ingest, it scared the hell out of me to think I was eating all those pesticides and growth hormones even through the dairy I was consuming! It's only been a couple of weeks but I already can feel the change within my body.. I have more energy, sleeping habits have almost resumed to normal (and I suffer from insomnia!), and I have much more stamina. I kicked the pop habit too! It's been about 3 weeks with only 1 soda more for the caffeine than the actual drink itself (insomnia). Skinny Bitch has a chapter all about soda and what it contains..
It's a totally enlightening book. My DH is a full on carnivore but doesn't want to hear about the meat industry and I fully embrace awareness.. after all if your going to eat it you should know where it comes from, right? He doesn't hinder my decisions but when the topics of our children being Vegan or Vegetarian comes up, he plugs for the meat... so we will see what happens when we actually have them! I of course am pulling for Vegetarian lifestyle ;)
