Reading something on a comm called anony_moms which I came across by accident, One lady asked if anyone had ever called child services on anyone they knew and how they felt about it and the results. It was completely insane - some of their stories of the childs living conditions. Kids getting thrown down flights of stairs, kids living in filth, kids being starved. But the really fucked up part was that when these women did call (often more than once and with support of other family/friends of the child and calls from the schools) Child Services would do NOTHING. They wouldn't take the time to do their jobs. In one case a 3 month old baby girl had to DIE before CS did anything. That's so fucked up.
One woman who worked for CS said that they don't always take kids away from bad families cause it's traumatic for the kids and that they may be put into a bad foster family and that they'd be better off with their parents. What kind of crack-induced reply is that. Don't you think these kids who get beaten or completely ignored are going to be pretty fucking traumatised. And 'bad foster families' is not an excuse. There shouldn't be any bad foster families. CS is there to make sure that foster families are treating the kids well. Child placement organisations have a legal obligation to make sure that the children they place are being treated well.
It just sucks is all. A lot of the women had to watch their neices/nephews close family friends be abused becuase no one would do anything about it.
