Let's finish this better than we started

Dec 31, 2011 15:26

I'm only going say this once and be done with it: 2011 can fuck off and go back to the disgusting place where bad years go to die and rot in forgotten graves. And with that out of the way, let's get on with better things, shall we?

I think I mentioned before that I'm going out tonight for the first time ever. I'm a little nervous to see how this is going to go but I think it's appropriate. I think that it's less important to remember all the shit that has happened to me and many of the people I know and love over the past 12 months than it is to celebrate the fact that we're all still here. Currently, I can't think of anyone who has told me thus far that they have had a truly magical and fantastic 2011 and even though many of us have battle scars, some worse than others, I think it's worth it to pat ourselves on the back tonight. The people around me have had to go through deaths, poverty, major depressions, horrible health problems and all kinds of heartaches and abuses and I'm no exception but somehow we all got here. We're all still here and I, for one, am saying that 2012 isn't going to bruise me the way that the previous year did.

I've been saying that I am not giving this year a chance to suck and I encourage you all to do the same. At the end of the horror movie, they don't sit there and cry over their losses; they walk away from the things that are gone. So there you have it, mostly silent readership. I am getting up from this one and I'm going out tonight to welcome another year. I could tell you all kinds of encouraging things to start you off but I think I'll settle for this:

I hope that you have a great night, regardless of whether you're going out to party it up or getting to bed on time so you can greet January first feeling well rested. Whatever you do, I hope that when you go to bed tonight, you feel great and you look forward to the time you open your eyes.

I hope that in the next twelve months, you are inspired by something that fires your imagination for the rest of the year and well into the next. I hope that you have a year full of magic that makes you believe in something, regardless of what your faith or background.

I hope that you see how loved you are by all those who appreciate you for everything you are or will be.

Here's to a year full of making the memories we'll be talking about fondly for many years to come! Cheers!!
HAPPY NEW YEARS!!!
