Eyes-opening event
Yesterday... That was just amazing. Me and Toni were going home on our shuttle-bus discussing the role of HR in our company. It sounds not so interesting because it is very difficult to describe the way it was. And it became clear that my whole department lives separately from others and just don't get how we make money.
We have many expates. Too many - I thought. But just didn't know that their competency is so unique. We build turbines and provide a wide range of service, supporting, maintaining, updating and so on. And our technical specialists are like.. surgeons. It's not about what schemes they know or how many technical literature they read. It's about their hands and something like.. sixth sense. That's why it really is less expensive to transfer such specialist from Germany for exact project. He can handle his tasks in 3-4 weeks versus 3-4 months for russian newby.
And that was another point to remember to think.. twice (better more) to assume anything.
