Complications

Ahaha... I thought I'd try not writing pr0n for a change... :)

Soft paws noiselessly padded across the paved streets leading to the dimly-lit perimeter of Sakurai estate. The large dog was heading home after making its usual rounds and visiting a nearby temple. Nobody within the neighborhood found the wolf's presence peculiar, nor did they find its amber eyes and gleaming incisors particularly fearful. The wolf was free to go in and out of the mansion as it pleased and was able roam around the neighborhood unharmed. The neighbors did not fear the wolf. For some reason, which they themselves could not explain, they had a deep seated reverence for the beast and they paid it great respect. Any questions about its presence from casual onlookers had been wisely hushed, partly owed to the fact that the the wolf belonged to the Sakurais; an old family shrouded, not only in power, but also in lore and superstition.

The wolf abruptly stopped its jolly trot and sat on the ground, cocking a pointy ear to the left, its nose wrinkling as it sniffed a vaguely familiar scent that definitely didn't belong to the area. The wolf whined, giving the moon a withering glance before jumping into the bushes and wiggling its way into the secret entrance that led to the mansion's gardens. Once inside, the wolf entered the house and bounded straight into its quarters...

Transformations have never been his favorite pastime. It was an excruciating process of limbs and bones breaking, snapping, and melding into shape; of cells and tissues getting liquefied, only to reform into a semi-solid state as they slotted themselves into their proper places in his anatomy. The whole world changed from a dull, monochromatic spectrum of grays that overwhelmed his senses with odors and noise, to one with glaring lights and vibrant colors, where his sharp sense of smell and hearing have been muted, slightly, by a keener sense of sight. Sho likened willful transformations to a trip to the dentist where all of your teeth went through a root canal all at the same time. It left him severely weakened, and sapped of nearly all his energy. It was much unlike the seamless and easy transition from man to wolf on the night of a full moon, where each cell in his body sang to the moon's dark tune and morphed freely and painlessly into its new shape. Breathing heavily, Sho sprawled his naked form onto the soft mattress of his bed, a shaky hand brushing a bead of sweat that strayed past his brows. Sho could hear the distant rumble of a car engine slowing down as it stopped to park in front of the gates. Pushing himself off the bed, Sho opened his wardrobe and flung a random outfit across his bed. He went for a quick stop to the bathroom to splash cold water onto his face before hurriedly wearing the clothes and making an exit at the backdoor, slowing down to a casual stroll to meet a very spooked Jun ringing his doorbell.

"Um...please ...I"

*ding*

"c-can you o-open...”

*ding, ding, ding*

Sho took deep breaths, trying to soothe rattled nerves and forcing himself to take his mind off the pain. His limbs still ached from the recent transformation and he had foolishly tried to move without allowing himself enough time to recoup and settle into his human form. Sho walked carefully, taking long slow strides as he made his way towards Jun...

If anyone attacked me right now... wait, Aiba...? Sho's eyebrow rose, ear cocked to the side, straining to hear the footfalls of a certain fox.

Jun was still busy pounding on the doorbell when Sho lightly rested a hand on his shoulder. Sho resisted every impulse to pull the younger man into an embrace and bury his head at the crook of his neck, where he was free to inhale the faint trace of aftershave mingling with Jun's own musky scent.

"Jun! I never thought I'd see you here!" Sho greeted Jun, as cheerfully as he could manage.

Jun turned, nearly jumping out his skin from the contact.

"What happened? Are you okay? You're shaking." Sho's brows wrinkled in concern.

"I- I came here to return this..." Jun held out a shaky hand holding a white paper bag.

"What is it?" Sho feigned ignorance and made a show of looking through the bag although he already knew its contents.

"It's the shirt I borrowed," Jun replied between breaths of air "I, um, I guess I better go now..."

"No, stay, please..." Sho begged, grabbing hold of Jun's hand and pulling him closer; a desperate plea reflected in his tired eyes.

I need you...

"I...." Jun's sentence was abruptly cut off by a familiar high-pitched voice

"Sho! You’re finally back! Hi Jun!" Aiba bounded happily towards the pair.

Masaki...?

"Oh, yes, I uh, just got back few hours ago..." Sho turned a puzzled glance at Aiba.

"I didn't know that you two already knew each other!" Aiba beamed, oblivious of Sho's inquiring glance as he wedged himself between the pair, slinging an arm around each one.

"Um...I" Jun stuttered, wanting to melt into the ground.

"It's okay puppy! I won't tell!" Aiba winked at Jun and turned to face Sho, "Anyway, I'm hungry. My friend's oden stall is still open and it's nearby. Want to have dinner?"

"Sure. That sounds good, I could use something warm," Sho turned to Jun, "Jun, won't you please come with us? My treat, I promise."

After some moments of hesitation, Jun relented. Part of him reasoned it was because his boss invited him and it would be rude to turn him down. His other half,( which knew better and was also curious,) wanted to find out why Sho looked so pale and wan; a stark contrast the spirited young buck that bedded him not too long ago. Something was off about Sho and he was starting to get leery of Aiba's kittenish face and those eyes that wrinkled into crescents whenever he smiled. As much as it pained him to admit, he was worried over Sho and had been fighting the urge to fuss and mother him once he saw the dark circles that lined his eyes. Jun ushered Sho and Aiba into his car, Sho sitting beside him as he gave the full moon a forlorn glance before entering the car...

The steaming broth did wonders for Sho and Jun's rattled nerves, setting them at ease as they drank cup after cup of sake while listening to Aiba's merry chatter. Jun could not remember the last time that oden had tasted this good and ordered himself a second bowl, which Aiba's friend had graciously given to him, on the house. The three lapsed into a comfortable, lighthearted banter which made Jun forget about his professional relationship with his companions. Jun came to appreciate Aiba's warmth and his genuine sincerity and was pleasantly surprised to discover a goofier side to Sho.

As the night wore on, Jun had somehow sensed that Sho and Aiba shared a past, the thought sending a tiny pang of jealousy that he deliberately chose to ignore. Sho was his boss... it was just a one night stand.... Or so he told himself; the familiar buzz of alcohol clouding his normally sharp judgment. Things would be much less of a headache, of course, if it didn't seem like Aiba was hitting on him too.

Jun suddenly fell silent, keeping his gloomy thoughts to himself.

"Jun... why so quiet all of a sudden?" Aiba chirped; his face flushed from the sake as he playfully poked Jun's shoulder.

"Are you okay?" Sho asked, concerned, although not as drunk.

"Mmmmokay..." Jun slurred; looking perplexed. He was probably drunker than he thought he was.

"Oi, oi you have to drive you know!" Aiba tipsily replied, his voice louder than usual.

"S'okay can drive..." Jun shook his head trying to shake off the buzz

"If you want to go home, I can drive you." Sho replied, suddenly growing protective.

"Think I had too much..." Jun looked at Aiba with a genuinely puzzled expression, "Masaki... where do you put all those taillsss? You look like a cat..." Jun reached out, nearly falling over as he attempted to grab one of Aiba's tails. "Tail's flufffyyy..."

"A-ahh..." Aiba was suddenly alert, catching Jun in time before his hands managed to latch on to a tail, "Y-yes, I think you had too much to drink Jun... let's go home?" Aiba responded affectionately, pulling Jun upright and tucking a strand of hair behind his ear.

"Mmm going home laterrr..." Jun blinked a few times, rather annoyed at himself for losing control. He normally knew when to stop.

Aiba scratched his head, unsure of what to do next. Jun obviously had some sort of sixth sense to be able to see his tails; then again, he didn't know that many werewolves who've been reborn as humans. Perhaps they carried over some of their abilities in their next life...

At this point, Sho intervened, walking over to where Jun sat and taking the younger man by the hand.

"Come Jun, let's go home. We still have work tomorrow." Sho's voice sliced through Jun's muddled thoughts like a hot knife through butter, and for reasons unknown to him, Jun's first instinct was to obey. Jun nodded silently, grasping Sho's hand in a tight grip and using it to push himself up from his chair. Sho slung Jun's arm around his neck and slipped his arm around his waist, helping the younger man get to his feet.

"Masaki... can you drive us home?" Sho asked, supporting a very drunk and scowling Jun in his arms.

"Whose home? Yours or his?" Aiba quirked a brow, smirking.

"His." Sho replied after a few moments of silence. "Jun, where are the keys?"

"Pocket..." Jun replied reaching for his keys and handing them over to Aiba.

The three walked slowly towards Jun's parked car with Aiba moving a few paces ahead to open the doors, letting Sho and Jun inside the backseat.

"Where to?" Aiba started the engine.

"Jun's place..." Sho replied, trying not to giggle as Jun started nuzzling his neck

"Do I drop off both of you there?" Aiba joked.

"Yes...?" Jun whispered, intoxicated with Sho's scent as he started trailing light kisses across the older man's jaw.

"No..." Sho spoke, his voice shaky as he tried to restrain a very amorous Jun. "Not tonight anyway..."

"Oh? You had no trouble taking advantage of me when I was drunk before." Jun whined, "You don't want me now?"

"Jun--"

"Anyway," Aiba cut in, the shock on his face hidden from the pair sitting behind him. "How do we get to Jun's place? I've never been there before..."

"It's a few blocks away from the post office, just turn right at the second corner." Jun replied in a quiet voice; all too aware of just how much had slipped from his tongue.

"All right." Aiba replied as he started to drive; His voice was gentle and even, without any hint of reproach for the younger man.

Sho sat with Jun's head pillowed on his shoulder, the younger man falling deeper into sleep. The rest of the trip went on with an awkward silence surrounding them. He thought he heard a faint trace of pain in Aiba's voice when Jun blurted out about his one night stand with Sho. It had only been a year since he returned to Japan, and so many questions still needed to be answered. How did Aiba even know Jun to begin with? Sho sighed, pulling Jun closer to him while he slept on, unaware of just how tangled things were becoming.

As they approached the post office, Aiba spoke:

"He's the one you've been looking for, all this time..."

"Yes."

"He was your mate."

"Yes, he was..."

"Sho..."

"Yes?"

"I like Jun too."

"Masaki!..."

Aiba sighed as he turned a corner, "When I first walked into your dreams, I meant to seduce you. I had no idea you were immortal... didn't even know you were a werewolf..."

"Masaki, I tried..."

"Sho-chan," Aiba sing-songed, "It was only later on that I found out about Jun, in your dreams... you had nightmares about him... his death...I know how much he means to you... But I also know that you loved me, even though the time we shared was short."

"I did, Masaki..."

"I loved you too... I think I still do." Aiba turned right.

"But I also like your little puppy..."

"Masaki, what are you saying?" Sho replied, his heart beating faster, unsure if he should feel angry or threatened.

"I'm saying, that unless Jun decides that we can share, he's fair game..." Aiba parked the car in front of Jun's house. "Don't get mad, Sho, I want to share you with him too..."

"Foxes..." Sho sighed as he gently nudged Jun awake. "We'll talk more after this..." Sho pulled Jun out of the car and walked with him all the way to his apartment. As they approached the door, Jun sleepily fumbled in his pockets for his keys and turned the lock. Jun looked at Sho one last time before opening the door. It was the same searching look he had given the older man after having woken up in his bedroom; there was a sense of familiarity which he couldn't place, a deep seated knowledge of having met him before that his rational mind just won't let him answer.

"Sho... Sakurai-san... I'm--"

"Jun, we're not at work" Sho smiled softly, fingers caressing the younger man's cheeks.

Jun leaned in to the touch, but looked at Sho with that same puzzled expression.

"I... uh, guess I need to sleep now. Thank you very, very much for taking care of me. It was so embarrassing. I promise to pay you and Masaki back for your kindness.." Jun bowed, all of a sudden.

"Oy!" Sho exclaimed, taken aback "N-no need for that, honestly... we just want to see you home safely." Sho reassured Jun, pulling him up.

"But...I'm your--"

"Shh..." Sho gently placed both hands on Jun's face and pulled him in for a kiss; soft and gentle at first, but quickly turning possessive and needy as he nudged Jun's mouth open, pulling his lower lip down with his thumb and slipping in his tongue to brush against Jun's. He wrapped an arm around Jun's waist, and drew him closer, grinding his hips against Jun's crotch; the younger man moaning into the kiss as his own hips jerked involuntarily against Sho's...

You're mine.

Jun broke away from the kiss, flushed and panting as he whispered a hurried good night. Sho kissed him one last time on the forehead before walking away. Jun entered his house, locking the door as he toed off his shoes and stalked into his bedroom. It was 12 midnight and he needed to be at work by seven AM tomorrow.... Although he was quite sure the last place he wanted to be was at work.

Jun undressed, slowly peeling off the layers of clothing until he was completely naked. He sat on his bed, silently contemplating the conversation between Sho and Aiba inside his car while he feigned sleep.

He was in a lot deeper shit than he thought.

My life just gets more exciting by the minute... Jun thought dejectedly as he slipped between the black sheets of his bed, throwing a leg over his pillow as he closed his eyes and let sleep claim him.
