Things to keep me busy

Because I'm such a dork, I bought myself three books and a set of Tarot Cards for Christmas ^_^

aaand, the Tarot  deck that I really wanted to buy back in college (but didn't have the money to):

I've already started reading "Wicked." So far, so good, but I guess I'm a little too used to Pratchett's brand of humor and his style of satirizing/parodying nearly everything (especially fairy tales/myths and legends) which, I suppose, has conditioned me to expect something similarly funny from Maguire... I'm still getting used to his style and I'm a bit iffy about reading his other works. I guess I'll just have to wait till I finish the book before deciding.  As for Tanizaki, my mother introduced me to his works back when I was in college. The first book I read was a collection of short stories, entitled: "Seven Japanese Tales". I've also read his other works, such as: " The Key," and "Some Prefer Nettles," as well as some of his shorter works from my Japanese Lit. class. It's a shame I didn't have more money with me because I saw a copy of the "Makioka Sisters" in Fully Booked and I really wanted it too =/  Anyhoo, "Train Man" was a post Christmas impulse buy. I've heard a lot of good stuff about it, and I think that it started out as a manga. From what I know there's already a movie of it too, and I would like to watch it, but the chances of that movie being aired here is nil :P.

Hmm... Tarot Cards... Well, I'm a Neil Gaiman fan, and I'm also kind of into divination. I dabbled with Wicca and paganism back in high school and my mom even bought me a set of Rune Stones as a gift for my 18th birthday. =) I really like the art, and it's true what they say about the Tarot Cards... they tend to be moody and they choose their owners (so I guess I'm lucky I was chosen, huh?) It'll take some time before I can read other people's cards. I still need more time to study the cards so that I can give a reading without looking at the book for the meanings, but I can already do rune readings without having to consult the book.

Anyways, I'll be popping in every now and then to read fics, and (hopefully :P) continue mine. It's going to be a rather long weekend and I hope to finish all three books before work starts. It's amazing how much I missed my bed. hehehehe.

Happy New Year!
