Season 8: Citizen Fang

So sorry this is late but I didn't watch the episode when it aired live so...and the Jensen gif pretty much sums up my thoughts on this episode. So sorry this isn't going to be very positive! I warn you of this head of time. So stop now if you don't want to read any negativity about this episode or the show.

So first off this was a REALLY lack luster mid season finale. Compare it to Season 2's almost secret reveal. Even Season 6's resouling it was weak.

Why was it weak? Because NO ONE has ANY interest in the Sam/Amelia storyline. At least no one I talk to. Due to that lack of emotion the ending was not a cliff hanger if anything it is making people fear for the next episode. I can't be the only one groaning about ugh Amelia? Really?

And honestly that isn't even the BIGGEST problems with this episode. Let me level with you, someone suggested that this Season is in Carver's style with how he handles episodes. Like the Sam/Amelia thing isn't what it appears to be and we're going to have a plot twist. Maybe that is so but honestly I'm done getting up hope that things will be worked out and resolved and handled correctly by Carver himself.

I know people cry OOC when the characters do things they don't like but honestly I think this episode is worth a mention of OOC. Didn't Carver we were going to have character growth? And Sam and Dean would mature? I know things have to get worse before they get any better but there has been A LOT of opportunities to begin their characters on some great growth. But it's been wasted to where now Sam and Dean are acting like children. Yes I said it. Children and I who could blame Martin? When they're acting like children I would go out to woodshed to teach them some things too!

Good Benny doesn’t please me in the bit, because if anything it’s a really shitty way to say when Sam trusted a monster he was dead wrong but when Dean does it turns out in his favor. THOUGH the ending gave me hope that maybe Dean will come to his senses

The text? I love Dean you all know this but that was downright cruel and mean. I have no idea why Dean would do such a thing. This is really hurting Sam and I’m kind of without words how Dean doesn’t seem to care that he is. More confused then anything really. I understand he is hurt over Sam not looking for him but if we're going to see them mature, then the lashing out and intentionally hurting Sam because Sam hurt him is really childish. I assumed Dean would know better seeing as how lashing out in anger to hurt Sam over Sam hurting him has been something they have BOTH done before and it's never worked out in the end. It just causes more problems.
.
I almost cried for Sam. He’s being so beaten down lately. By someone who is supposed to love him unconditionally. It’s just not fair to say the least. While I don't agree with him leaving Dean unconscious and handcuffed, I guess it parallel what Dean with Amy. Which forgive me, I don't understand how Dean can not see his double standards over the issue. I mean Sam's just being Sam, he's being protective of Dean. They're not exactly very forthcoming with their year apart and Sam has no idea why Dean suddenly have a BFF vampire and the only reason Dean is giving him is that Benny never let me down insinuating Sam has a lot in the past. Nice Dean.

And on the contrary Sam isn't forthcoming about Amelia and given his silence on the issue Dean is only right to assume the worst of Sam in that year.

See very childish mannerisms.

I am still in no way interested in Sam/Amelia. She’s a boring a character. I in no WAY believe this supposed deep love they share. It was just a shitty upbringing from the beginning. The writers didn’t take the time to invest in this at all and the fallout is that no one believes Amelia, some even believe she wasn’t real which in terms of the storytelling they want that’s really horrible. It’s too much of a soap opera!

Does anyone know the actor that plays Martin? He was really good! Very believable He was edgy and nervous, very jumpy and very cold and unemphatic. It was interesting to see how his life as a hunter has been so effected by being in that mental hospital. So much so that he threatened a human life to try and kill Benny but in the end lost his.

Please tell me Martin’s death will be addressed? From the sounds of it Dean is already letting it slide as ‘he had it coming to him’. I think it would be nice to maybe get more into Dean’s head space because I honestly do not see where he is coming from at all this season. PTSD I can understand but it’s almost like creepy Stockholm syndrome with Benny? For lack of a better word, he’s holding so much value in Benny and pretty much rubbing it in Sam’s face how much better Benny is. Like wow Dean? I love you but that is a SERIOUS dick move.

So honestly Dean and Sam are acting like children. Lashing out in anger, refusing to listen to one another or communicate. I know I have to see the bigger picture here that this may be so they can get better but as someone pointed out on tumblr they seem to be taken it to the extreme. Without any consideration to the character growth both Sam and Dean have gotten over the course of seven seasons and seemed to have erased all of that to start from scratch.

But hey at least Castiel is getting character development :/
