help the teachers of the world!

Hello everyone!
how are you all doing? I'm doing well. Well, actually, I'm thankful that I survived this week of school. Usually, I help a teacher for a 3rd grade class ..but this week...she had to cover for another teacher in Infant 1. So, i was left with 38 3rd graders who don't seem to understand the meaning of "be quiet!, stay in your seats!, or don't hit your classmates!". So that was the story for the past 3 days. :( It has really tested me...and I'm concluding that I don't really want to be a lone teacher for 38 3rd graders :( I do hear that this frustration is common with new teachers...not to mention the class consists of 38 students.
It's funny nonetheless, because even when i do "rail up" (get mad) at them, they still want to give me a hug. ("Miss Cherry is mean" "I hate Miss Cherry"). Still you turn around..and they have this balled up peace of paper that has "i love teacher" on it as a gift. Our class has a routine, where the kids sing for the 1st 1/2 hour of the class. We sing christian songs, " Give me oil in my lamp", "Jesus loves me" and "Jesus in the home..happy happy home". But my favorite one is "Did Anybody tell you, 'I love you, today'?". It's a sweet song. BUT...... not this week..because i didn't realy want to hug these stress-producing kids. They made me so mad and class hasn't even started. So when the singing started...i was hoping that they wouldn't say "Miss, you haven't hugged us yet." In that instance, the teacher and I would hug each and everyone of the kids. It's nice..but still..on the days that i had to conduct the class alone...I wanted to stay as stern as possible because it was going to be a long day with these energized kids who feel they can disregard most of what I am saying. :/
Well, I wanted to help in a school...and discipline is definitely a part of the whole thing. I hope next week will be better. :)

I"m looking forward to the evening because a couple of friends will be coming to my house to watch a dvd on my computer. hopefully, we can even pop some popcorn..old fashion style, in a pot on the stove. ;)
talk to you all soon.
