Nope, don't watch that one. The ads didn't appeal to me (They showed some chick that looked like Cameron in Terminator & didn't explain a thing about the show).
Some chick that looks like Sumer Glau?!?!?!?!? Eliza?!?!? From buffy and angel?!?!? She played faith? Go get those on DVD to watch! Now! All the other shows can wait. Buffy until angel leaves and then you can start angel.. They run concurrently. Although you don' need to watch both to understand it.. It does add a bit every now and then (rarely). And then wait a minute?!?!? Cameron from terminator? Your not aware of firefly either?!?!?! Oh dear god, what are we going to do with you. Watch that too. Okay... Dollhouse. Dollhouse is a place where these dolls are kept.. And they are imprinted with identites and skills and.. stuff and rented out to clients. Like super high end prostitutes.. Only sometimes it's not for sex. And uhm... There's an agent investigating it and... Uh... Yeah. Catch up on hulu.
I binge watch, I don't watch them on TV but will get the series after it has been run and watch a show like House or Bones or Supernatural.
I typically got into watching tv shows for sci-fi based shows like Star Trek or Stragate but there are none going around now anymore, I did watch Battlestar Galactica, was okay in the first season but it kinda turned into Days of Our Lives in Space.
I'd kill for a half decent sci-fi show. I am put off by the American disposable show syndrome, they killed off shows like Firefly and Stargate which had great casts and stories just because they don't generate moronic Desperate Housewives-like ratings.
There is a new Stargate spinoff coming soon but don't know if I will invest the time/effort to get into it if it is just going to be terminated at the drop of a hat.
As far as I know the only way a show gets ratings is if you fill out a Nielsen Diary. Which is really stupid. I'd think with the technology they have today, they could add something to the digital cable boxes or even have their own to report what you watch almost instantaneously. Then again, that's kind of like "Big Brother is watching you."
They do have these boxes that they use to collect data based on what people are watching, however, for the USA they only use 5,000 of these boxes and only have a few thousand who use the dairies, the sample size is very poor and there is a lot of doubt as to the demographic of those that are used to sample the data and the kind of people likely to subject themselves to that kind of testing.
I wouldn't mind data on what I watch being collected, obviously the stuff I like to watch would then get more support. At the moment they target your typical families and they are geographically not the target audience of sci-fi shows so they have no meaningful data to identify if a sci-fi show is doing well or not.
I think they just send the books to whoever signs up for it. We filled one out a couple weeks ago. They also have a spot where you can add info about TV shows you missed so I put Eleventh Hour, Fringe & a couple others in.
I'm not sure where you're from. But here in Singapore we get pretty much the same thing on our telly. I watch/ed Bones, Cold Case, Criminal Minds and CSI too. The Mentalist is currently showing but I can't make it home on time to catch it. Has it been worthwhile for you?
