Knowledge isn't a commodity!

So, I have no classes on Thursdays. So far. (Becuase my scheduale isn't in stone yet.) I was looking forward to sleeping in. My cell goes off at 8:39AM. Now I'll answer the cell whenever, unfortunately, being here there's half a chance it will be someone for my mom, but who needs to be translated, or forgot her phone number.

It was Best Friend The Heath Food Nut. "You can't get to the faculty. It's a blocade. No classes today, only teacher's consultations."
Me: *remembers last night's newscast about roadwork, and the new faculty*  "Traffic or construction?"
Her: "They're DOING it!"
Me: *Thinking: ??????????* "Right-O!"
Her: "Don't you get it? Wake up and pull your head out of the sand! You're in a foreign country, if there was a WAR going on, you'd miss it! (Just becuase I happen to have grown up in a country that does NOT translate the Disney movie "Home on the Range" as "Revolt on the Farm") The students are striking, demanding free education."
Me: Oh, that. *decides she won't be able to go back to sleep now, and might as well go see for herself, it IS the most exciting that's happened here in almost a year*

Less than an hour later, I'm standing in front of a very quiet faculty. There were 4 hand written signs, one of which almost spelled "boycott" wrong, and about twenty students all sitting around taking pictures of said signs and waiting for the solidarity movement at noon. The student journalist got about 8 pictures of me in profile, and if that means I'm going to end up in the local paper just for taking a flyer I also hope it doesn't impact the fact that tommorow morning I have to present myself at the main police station to have my residency permit approved. *grins*
