You know, I really meant to start this about 6 hours ago so I would presumably finish on the anniversary but I got lost in trying to finish a new project - that's a crochet project - instead.
Anyway, here we are again, another year on. My how time flies ... when you're getting old. Well, that's a major sign isn't it? Time starts to scream by and you look up one day and wonder what the hell happened to it all.
Enough of that crap. On to the exciting events of my life over the last year which would be ...
1) the birth of my nephew, announced previously.
2) the passing of the study units which, considering all the time and work they took, is a good thing.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand, that's about it. Those are the highlights of my year.
Pathetic, isn't it?
Still, I like it. It's quiet and contented - for the most part. Very occasionally someone pisses me off and I start feeling homicidal but that passes.
Eventually.
Anyway, other things that have happened which whilst not exciting do manage to pass the time.
After this last dreadful summer I finally had enough and decided to do something about it. And, being me, I may have gone a tad overboard. The result is that I now have reverse cycle air conditioning in most of my house AND 2 awnings over the windows that get all the sun. I'm gonna survive next summer in style and comfort, dammit!
So everyone brace yourselves - after all that you know it's gonna be a cold one next year. ::grin::
I'm also going to get solar panels installed on my roof - yay government subsidies!
Those are basically the big events in my life. The rest is just living life, going to school, occasionally flying down to Melbourne to greet another newborn ... :)
Except that I have taken up an old hobby. I felt the need to be crafty so I took the opportunity of the impending birth of my nephew to start crocheting again. I crocheted him a lovely thick baby blanket. Then I looked around for another project to do and I did a scarf, I think.
You know how they say things can snowball? Well, my obsess..um..hobby skipped right over that and became an avalanche. I haven't crocheted a thing in over 10 years so I guess I was making up for lost time.
My current project list stands thus:
5 dishcloths
3 tea towels
1 hand towel
1 baby blanket
5 scarves
1 rug
1 baby poncho
1 child poncho
2 placemats
2 coasters
1 pillow cover
4 half capes
1 large wrap
2 sets of wrist warmers and a couple on order.
And all this started with the baby blanket ... last November.
I have about 5 kilos of wool/yarn lying about - some 4 or 5 more projects in mind and I don't see myself slowing down anytime soon.
And I have to stop going on eBay and buying more wool.
I should probably type more but it's late, I'm tired and I'm coming down with ANOTHER ear infection. I think I'm going through my second childhood - I used to have ear infections all the time then too.
So, until next year or if something exciting happens - whichever comes first.
TTFN.
