In which there is rambling

May 05, 2011 00:27

I've been meaning to post something . . . but I became distracted. The colour red has lost all meaning to me. Gosh, another means of time wasting~

Every time Xavi complains about our grass, I can't help but think about Real's groundsmen: Paul Burgess. I'm just tickled by the idea that we have a world class groundsmen . . . that we took from Arsenal. Seriously. Let's look at the man's accolades:
[...]Arriving at Arsenal at 18, Burgess won the Premier League Groundsman of the Year award three times in his tenure at the club, being nominated for the award in each season he was eligible.

More importantly, he also won the IOG Turf Professional of the Year award in 2008- an award which is actually voted for by the groundsmen themselves. Burgess’s work at Arsenal helped to carve out the club’s current reputation as leaders in the field of, um, fields, and it was he who oversaw the first tests in both SGL and Grassmaster technologies at the club, both of which he also has at his disposal at Real (along with considerably more funding, one would assume) [...] (source)

TAKE THAT XAVI!!! I'm sure Paul is crying into his multiple awards rn. I need to know if La Liga has something akin to the "Groundsmen of the Year" award. If they do, I'm sure our groundsmen will win it at some point.

Due to my curiosity about our groundsmen, I know more about Real Madrid's pitch than I ever anticipated. Also, if there's any sort of universal irony, Paul Burgess will get nominated/shortlisted again, AND WIN ONE OF THE STADIUM BUSINESS AWARDS. Hint: look at where the event is taking place.

(also, wtf Tottenham's groundsmen, why so cute? )

Fiorentina:
Our last game. What a game it was. 5-2!!! Look at their gleeful expressions Vargas' sexy goal. D'agostino's goals. Cerci not sucking (and scoring another brace) . . . where was this team earlier in the season?! But European competition is still so far awaaaaay~ (Damn you Juve for stumbling into that win.)

Monty whinge of the day:
EVERYTHING IS TASTIER IN PURPLE MONTY. But what is up with that Antognoni comparison? Right on random comment in the comment section, as much as it pains me to admit that. Technically he may be Fiorentina's Captain. But I don't get the "HE IS MY CAPTAIN" vibe from him, or any of the Fiorentina players really. Dear Monty, you need to work on that STAY PLZ and reach Michelle's captainly pantheon. (Where the likes of Iker Casillas, Gianluigi Buffon and Christine Sinclair already reside)

Real Madrid:
I want to give them hugs and hot chocolate. and a CL trophy *sob* Well done, boys. In retribution I'm making everyone around me ENEMIES OF BARCA. This is one of the upside of having non-footie friends. Malleable.

LOOK AT YOUR LIFE. LOOK AT YOUR CHOICES. WHAT, WHAT WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!!
