Chapter 63:
Jin ignored Kazuya’s question but asked his own question seriously yet sincerely. “Kazuya, I don’t know whether you will appreciate what I am doing here now or not, but… I will never stop what I am going to do next, irregardless of what your reaction is. Will you open up this box here?”
Kazuya took a very long hesitating moment before he brought his slight trembling hands to the box and opened it precariously.
“There’s a note in there. Can you take it out and read it?” Jin encouraged ethereally.
Kazuya blinked and eyed Jin curiously but nodded his head in acknowledgement, proceeding to pull out the mentioned small piece of note and started reading it just loud enough for the two of them to hear.
To my love - Kazuya,
Be courageous enough so you can be set free.
Be free from the constant isolation and finally we will be able to meet.
Loosen your frozen heart and come to me…
We will move on from there and move towards the miracles that the angels invite.
I don’t need the past because there is tomorrow.
I need the future because I know you will always be there with me.
So, please forgive and accept the Love.
Don’t ever forget that I love you.
Sincerely yours with all my heart,
Your Jin.
Kazuya’s voice eventually cracked and turned into an inadvertent whisper. He began to sob hard.
Upon seeing this, Jin got onto both his knees and enfolded Kazuya gently into an embrace, giving him the needed comfort as he ignored the stinging pain coming from kneeling on both knees on the ground. At this moment, nothing could be compared to his love in front of him.
“Kazu… come on.” Jin urged Kazuya to get down from his seat and joining Jin in his painful kneeling position on the ground as well, hugging one another dearly.
“J-jin…” Kazuya voiced out huskily. “I…”
“Kazu, before you say anything, will you please listen to me just one more time?” Jin felt Kazuya gave his nod against his own shoulder.
“Ever since that day you sang ‘Kizuna’, I was deeply engrossed by the lyrics. I kept replaying the song whenever I could, just so to keep on replaying our bond again and again. And I thought I should get you something in return for today’s occasion. I thought and considered a lot on what I should give you or rather, what I could give you.” Jin paused as he felt Kazuya pulling deviously away from him and stared at him through his raptly tear-filled eyes. He made a move and wiped away the salty tear lines with his both thumbs.
“And then I finally got it. You gave me the acknowledgement of our ‘bond’, so I decided to return you my pledge on our ‘bond’ too. And I have got it.” Jin picked up the mini box he had placed on the floor earlier on and showed it to Kazuya again. “Pinky rings. The legendary red thread of Fate, which is our bond.”
“R-red… thread of Fate?” Kazuya repeated after Jin rigidly like a parrot.
Jin nodded his head mildly. “Ever heard of this belief?”
Kazuya pondered really hard before shaking his head dubiously in a slow speed while still maintaining the eye contact with his boyfriend.
“Do you want to know more about it?” Jin asked compassionately.
Kazuya pursed his lips into a determined thin line and smiled felinely whilst nodding his head shyly.
“Hmm… let me enlighten you on it then.” Jin pulled Kazuya up from the floor and guided them back to their respective seats. Once Kazuya was seated properly, Jin scraped his chair over the tiled floor, to place it beside Kazuya and sat down on it.
When Jin was seated too, he started off simply. “It’s a Japanese belief, Kazu. According to this belief, every individual is bonded to another person by this invisible red thread that is affixed to their pinky fingers. And this person you are coupled to is believed to be your destined partner in life.”
Kazuya listened on attentively but mumbled very softly. “Destined partner…”
“You know, just like a soulmate. So in all, I meant… this red thread of Fate I just told you is supposed to guide you to your one and only true love.” Jin reached out for Kazuya’s pinky ring and held it nervously in front of Kazuya. Kazuya returned his gaze, eyes twinkling in an unknown anticipation. He picked up Kazuya’s trembling hand in his left while holding the ring in his right.
“That’s why… I bought this pair of pinky rings for us for the reason that I wanted it to always bond us together. This pair of rings here represents our bond. Just because I am so sure that I’m your soulmate and you’re mine.”
Kazuya looked up at Jin hopefully, smiling knowingly in an earnest anticipation.
“Therefore at hereby, let me raise this to you, Kazuya.” Kazuya unconsciously sat up straighter than previously and paid Jin his full attention.
Jin cleared his throat a couple of times and inhaled deeply, trying to get rid of his nervousness. Hell, why was he nervous at a time like this? ‘Get a hold of yourself, Akanishi Jin!’
“Will you, Kamenashi Kazuya, accept me, Akanishi Jin, as your destined lifetime partner and walk our lives through the good and bad times together, regardless of whatever obstacles we may face in the future?”
Kazuya gazed at Jin with his watery orbs and gave Jin his blissful smile. “This ring here represents my heart, my love, my promise. There’s just one more thing I need and it will be complete. Your ‘yes’.”
Jin waited patiently as Kazuya nodded his head shyly and gently according to his reply. “Yes, I do.” He whispered out bashfully. Jin grinned in a mega-watts smile and immediately made the first move. He restricted himself strongly to give out a hearty laugh over Kazuya’s answer. He forbade himself to do that now. Instead, he chose to beam genuinely and pushed the ring eagerly into Kazuya’s left pinky finger smoothly.
Then Jin grinned at Kazuya widely, resembling a child waiting for his favorite dessert to be served to him, and anticipated patiently again as he’s waiting for Kazuya’s proposal. He wished to hear Kazuya giving his promise too.
But he realized that Kazuya was just looking intently at him with his beautiful, innocent eyes, eyelashes batting intriguingly once in a while. Jin stared back at him with anticipating eyes in companion with his glittery smile. And… Kazuya still stared back at him curiously, no other movement in tow. Jin began to narrow his eyes and glared at Kazuya with a big pout.
Kazuya noticed this reaction so he asked dubiously. “What, Jin?”
“Kazu…” Jin whined childishly. “Where’s your proposal for me?” He pointed at himself.
Kazuya blinked his eyes once. Twice.
At the count of thrice, a soft “oh~” was heard. Kazuya looked at Jin coyly in hesitation. Then he started to part his lips and mustered a soothing yet determined voice, hands moving towards the box and pulled out Jin’s supposed pinky ring. “Akanishi Jin, are you willing to accept me, Kamenashi Kazuya, as your destined lifetime partner and walk our lives through the good and bad times together, regardless of whatever obstacles we may come across in future?”
“Of course, my dear.” Jin did try to reply seriously but a tinge of playfulness that lingered on his face couldn’t escape from Kazuya’s sharp eyesight. Jin presented his left hand right in front of Kazuya, waiting for his pinky ring to descend on his pinky finger, but it never came. He looked up at Kazuya inquiringly.
“Jin, be serious.” Kazuya reprimanded with a frown evident in between his neat eyebrows.
“I am serious.” Kazuya raised an eyebrow at him skeptically.
“Okay, let me do this one more time. Kazu, ask me again, please?” Jin cleared his throat a few times, determined to show his seriousness and sincerity about their proposal to Kazuya.
“Akanishi Jin, are you willing to accept me, Kamenashi Kazuya, as your destined lifetime partner and walk our lives through the good and bad times together, regardless of whatever obstacles we may come across in future?” Kazuya was cordial enough to repeat one more time for him.
“Yes, of course. I do.” This time, heartfelt eagerness ran in Jin’s voice.
Kazuya smiled in satisfaction and slipped the ring into Jin’s left pinky finger as well. ‘I do’ were the keywords Kazuya wanted to hear from him.
“I love you.” Both blurted out at the same time and they laughed heartily at each other.
Just then, Kazuya seemed to recognize something. He suddenly voiced out. “Oh, wait.”
“No ‘wait’. It’s already done. We are married. You’re mine. Don’t think of leaving me and regretting your decision now.” Jin warned dangerously, narrowing his eyes fiercely trying to prove to Kazuya that he was serious about his threat.
“No, wait.” Kazuya repeated. “I meant to say… I sounded cheesy in my answer just now!” Kazuya whined playfully. “I wanted to sound manlier. One more time!”
“Oh.” Was the capable, amused reply from Jin. “Too late, my dear.” He laughed and reached forward to pull the flailing Kazuya into his arms, his right hand settling behind Kazuya’s head and stroking at his fine hair. “Don’t forget that you were the one being proposed to first.”
Kazuya pouted madly. He brought his hand up to the same level with his own face. He glared defiantly at the ring for a few seconds before he opened his mouth and sank his sharp teeth forcefully onto Jin’s right shoulder, trying to show off his ignored anger.
Jin winced at the pain caused by the bite. “K-kazu, I didn’t know you have this fetish of biting…”
Kazyua released his bite and spoke up defiantly yet casually. “I don’t, until you forced me to, just now.” And he whistled chirpily.
Jin rolled his eyes and scoffed, thumping on Kazuya’s head firmly once. “Spoiled brat.”
“Hey! It’s all thanks to you, okay!” Kazuya retorted mutinously almost immediately.
And Jin scoffed again, this time in amusement.
“I still want to give you a manlier answer, Jin~” Kazuya was really persistent sometimes but yet, Jin found him to be endearing in this manner. Too bad, eh?
Jin gave up. He replied while rolling his eyes at Kazuya’s drama-queen behavior as a dramatic effect. “Okay… how do you want to answer me then? We shall do it one more time.”
Kazuya pulled away and pulled out his ring in a smooth movement, excited to start again when just then, some cravings on the inner side of the ring caught his attention wholly. He examined it carefully and read the words out loudly. “A. Jin” He looked up at Jin who in turn, also took off his pinky ring and showed it to Kazuya, beaming in happiness. He thought Kazuya got the clue. He thought.
“K. Kazuya” Kazuya read out aloud. He blinked and blinked repetitively at the words.
Seconds ticked by before the clueless Kazuya jumped up from his seat and exclaimed in horror after he had ‘regained’ his consciousness. “Stupid Jin! You have got us to wear the wrong rings just now! The one with my name was supposed to be mine! You gave me yours instead!” Kazuya groaned out exasperatedly while Jin stood up as well, staring on at him, feeling dumbfounded.
“W-what?” Jin raised both his eyebrows at the flailing Kazuya.
“You! You have got us to wear the wrong rings!” Kazuya screamed frantically again.
Jin countered Kazuya’s ferocious glare with a blank look. ‘Unbelievable.’
Oh his God.
Jin palmed his face.
A/N: There, there. I have finally updated. haha. Actually I got this chap out like a couple of days back but I kept forgetting to post it up as I have been going out. =p But anyway, all went well for this chap ne? :) But there’s more… the confession didn’t just stop there. Haha. I feel so stupid, making just one simple confession so long. =p But… oh well, bear with me… It’s just a couple more chapters to the end, I think.
And somehow the ‘fate of writing’ is coming nearer and nearer ne… coz I think I have mentioned before, when WFL is officially done, there may be no more fics from me… at least not multi-chap fics. Erm… I duno, I really have to see how. I felt kinda sad over this though. It’s like such a pity. Since the ever first fic I started was WFL. A multi-chap fic. ^^”
Anyways, I’m still gonna be around, just… not much of writing? It really has to depend though. Of course, I still wish to continue writing for everyone, every reader if there’s a chance. Or maybe you readers can always try to request for a certain kind of plot to be written and I can try my best for you, that is, if you ever want me to write a fic for you. Haha!
So yep, till my next update~ Enjoy~ =)
