Chapter 57:

Time flew by. It’s been three weeks since they had last arrived at this huge mansion.

Kazuya and Jin had been living awkwardly together since then. Afterall, it’s been some time since they were living around one another and it was simply because they didn’t know how they should behaved around the other. For this reason, they tried their best to live amicably around each other now in this huge mansion.

So yes… awkwardness, more awkwardness and still awkwardness.

Awkwardness kept revolving non-stop around them. Although they ate their meals together and probably played some games together, they did not really speak to one another much. At least, not in a serious manner. Just casual talks, yes. Most of the time, they did their things separately and tried to spend their time away from one another. They even chose to spend nights sleeping by themselves alone in different rooms so as not to complicate their relationship further, yet.

Jin was not doing this on purpose. He never wanted to conveniently ignore the other’s presence when it was just clearly the two of them living under the same roof. He… was just afraid of taking any single, wrong step, doing any wrong action that would make Kazuya leave his side right away. Therefore he needed to measure his own action properly and made sure anything he did was balanced and felt just right.

Nothing more, nothing less.

‘I can’t travel back to the time I’ve spent with you but when I quietly looked back on it, it shone so brightly for the reason that you were the one who taught me that I’m not alone.’

On the other hand, Kazuya felt mystified and hurt over Jin’s attitude. As each day passed by, he kept thinking that he was like a desperate, lost kitten hopelessly yearning for its owner whom perhaps, wouldn’t even thought of wanting it back.

‘A friend told me, I’d be able to forget you once time plays its role, however, I just can’t get rid of the sharp thorn that sticks strongly in my heart.’

Somewhere, out of the island, back in Tokyo, three men and a woman were feeling anxious for the development between this couple as they assembled together and stared at the monitor carefully, to observe for any tiny, small movements that might occurred miraculously.

To their dismay, so far, there were none.

Under this same clear, blue sky, the town was still the same, the world is still turning. Everything never changed.

Be it the unexpected sight of someone with a similar hairstyle like yours made me turned around in anxiousness or be it at the accidental mention of your name, I would still stood rooted to the ground firmly.

Thinking back to the day when I said “I’ll be alright”, pretending to be tough when I was actually breaking down into pieces deep inside, made my heart ached without fail. I tried my best to fight back my loneliness… I just can’t love anyone else.

I still miss you now.

Today as per usual, right after their heavy, lazy breakfast, Jin had mentioned about retreating back to his room to do some reading while Kazuya settled on lazing around in the garden, watering the plants and enjoying the warmth emitting from the blazing sun. When it’s past lunchtime, Kazuya finally concluded that it’s time they should start getting along. It’s time to crush that piece of huge ice block between them, even though he might be hurting and losing his soul in the very end. Afterall, who knows how long more do they need to stay together in this mansion?

He went around the mansion to search for the other party and found Jin lounging idly in the entertainment room, watching an English action movie which he couldn’t name the title.

“Jin?” He called out softly to grab Jin’s attention.

“Yeah?” Jin answered absentmindedly, gaze still fixed on the TV screen, not willing to shift his gaze to the owner of the voice he had missed so much.

“It’s a nice day today. I’m going surfing. Do you want to join me?” Kazuya initiated hopefully.

“Surfing?” Jin pondered about this suggestion for a few seconds before giving a reply. “Sure. I will go with you. I think it’s time for me to so some sun tanning too.” He climbed up from his lying position and stretched out languidly like a cat.

“Okay, we will meet in the main hall fifteen minutes later.” Kazuya smiled and went out of the room, going back to his room to prepare the stuffs he needed.

Jin got up and switched off everything before going back to his room and gathered the stuffs he needed as well.

“Uwahhhh… this feels so good. It’s been a very long time since I have been out under the warm sun like this… breathing in the cool, natural air…” Jin sighed while plopping himself down onto the warm sand beach.

The waves were big today and the sun was blazing hot though it ought to be the cherry blossom season now. Perhaps on this island… the weather was just slightly different. He shrugged at this, although, actually… he didn’t give a care about this.

“Yeah…” Kazuya agreed, feeling nostalgic. “It’s been really long.”

‘Just like us.’ Kazuya gave himself a mental smack on his head when he realized what he had just thought of. He needed to go easy on his emotions and not so… depressing.

“Anyway, I’m going to surf now. How about you?” Kazuya got up and looked at Jin over his shoulder.

“Don’t worry about me. I’ll get myself some entertainment while waiting for you here.” Jin assured casually with a nice smile.

‘Waiting for me ne…’

Kazuya gave a curt nod and brought his surf board with him while walking down the beach. Jin looked at how Kazuya strolled down the beach leisurely and walked slowly into the strong sea.

Jin started lying down on the sand beach and stared aimlessly into the vast scene in front of him. He felt relaxed. He sat up again and looked around. He looked relaxingly at how blue the sky was with a few birds flying here and there in a very carefree manner. He looked forlornly at the strong waves pushing against each other in the sea. He felt at how strong the wind was today. He looked spontaneously at how his ex-boyfriend was currently surfing professionally in a handsome posture through waves after waves.

Jin smiled broadly.

He really missed Kazuya a lot. He might have denied about it, neither had he admitted it nor not showing his real emotions to anyone, but deep in his heart, he has always missed his boyfriend.

Jin’s smile widened even broader when Kazuya waved to him enthusiastically from in the sea and laughed out cutely in a silly manner after he had accidentally fallen off the board a few times. Then he looked at how Kazuya would tried his best stubbornly and conquered everything and started from the beginning again, planning to surf further. Jin could see and felt that Kazuya was enjoying his life now. Was he part of the reason why Kazuya had finally smiled? He wished he was.

After all these times of struggling and running away from the reality, these two should have begun to cherish what they owned at the moment instead of pursuing non-factual ideas and ditching their rightful love.

Jin did not realize how long he had been spacing out, reminiscing their moments until he seemed to have heard Kazuya’s curious, endless calling.

“JIN!” Kazuya panted after shouting for so long.

“Y-yeah?” Jin replied and noticed the close proximity between Kazuya and him.

“YOU!” Kazuya pointed accusingly at him while taking in deep breaths. “Why were you spacing out? If I didn’t call you, you may very well get sunburn here.”

“Eh?” Jin still looked as confused as a blur puppy wandering about down the streets.

“Sunburn. Sunburn, Jin.” Kazuya emphasized the word as though he was explaining to a small kid. “You got it?”

“AH!”

“Finally, you understood it.” Kazuya said out plainly and flopped down beside Jin.

Jin smiled sheepishly while handing Kazuya a bottle of ice water. It sounded like a splendid excuse at this kind of timing. It sounded just nice and convenient. “Here… I think you need it.”

“Thanks.” Kazuya got the bottle from Jin and started to gulp the cooling water thirstily. Droplets of the salty sea water were trickling down from his hair onto his face and trailed slowly down his neck, onto the collarbones and his chest.

Jin watched as Kazuya slurped down the delicious, tasty ice water with captivated eyes. Some defiant drops of water overflowed, trailing down from the corner of Kazuya’s mouth which proved to be too sexy for Jin. The image of Kazuya looking like this was too much for Jin to handle. Jin stared at the water track visible on Kazuya’s chin while licking his own lips unconsciously twice.

He started to move his upper body and leaned forward towards Kazuya. He advanced slowly towards the smaller man until Kazuya felt puffs of hot breaths tickled his cheeks. Kazuya turned slightly and caught sight of Jin’s close-up face just inches away from his own. He didn’t move away, merely just staring at Jin intriguingly.

“… Jin?” Kazuya whispered while staring at Jin who had his eyes cast on Kazuya’s lips instead.

Jin did not respond but just leaned further over and covered Kazuya’s lips with his own one gently. He nibbled slowly on Kazuya’s lower lip and gradually deepened the kiss.

‘Ahhh! I missed this… Jin…’

To Jin’s delighted surprise, Kazuya returned the kiss equally vehemently a few seconds later with his eyes closed blissfully. Oh how he had missed this warmth from Kazuya’s lips!

A lot of touching on each other’s bare, sizzling skin eventually went along with their simple thoughts of kisses. After a few minutes, they reached the moment when they needed to break apart to allow oxygen to flow into their lungs and breathed heavily, catching their required breaths.

Kazuya fluttered his eyes open unhurriedly and gazed at Jin lovingly. Butterflies were flying around in his stomach and caused him to feel shy and nervous out of a sudden. How should he behave now? Jin eyed Kazuya amusedly and beamed brightly.

‘YES! I got it!’

We got it.

Upon seeing Jin’s childish grin, Kazuya blushed even deeper and looked down coyly.

“Kazu, why aren’t you looking at me now?” Jin teased naughtily.

Kazuya kept his gaze low while at the same time mumbling something like ‘idiot’ and fidgeting nervously in his spot.

“Kazu, look at me…” Jin encouraged in a serious tone.

Kazuya wouldn’t budged and he kept looking at everywhere except at Jin. He had wanted to ask a question that had popped out in his mind just only. He voiced out shakily from nervousness. “Jin… are we already back at home?”

Back at home. Home. The way back home meant the path back to each other’s heart. This was a mutual thinking, a mutual feeling between them. Everything came back naturally just in a blink of an eye. Those fearful emotions, unanswered questions and tentative feelings all vanished into the thin air just like this. At the right moment, things worked out precisely.

Love is such an amazing magic.

I admitted that there were some words I didn’t get to tell you honestly during that time, so it’s alright, let me played the bad guy. However, I understand too that there are some words if I don’t say it out truthfully now, I will lose all my courage by tomorrow.

“I wanted to. I want to go home, Kazu.” Jin tugged on Kazuya’s arm gently, trying to get his attention while speaking up. “I wanted to go back to our home, hand-in-hand together with you, Kazu.” Jin whispered sincerely.

Kazuya finally plucked up his courage to gaze up at his returned lover with his glassy orbs and smiled beautifully at him.

That’s all for Jin to understand their situation now. Jin returned his smile with another bright smile.

No matter what were the choices we made

No matter the differing paths we opted for
The path that was once separated, will ultimately come together one day.

No more words were exchanged, for the decision was clear like transparent glass to the both of them. Even though when there weren’t much interactions being made between the two of them ever since they stepped foot onto this desolated, private island, somehow the magic of an understood, mutual sensation has always been existing in them. They would always cherish one another, the people around them and the things they own for love was the craze that bonded everyone together.

There was always a special, unique bond that kept them going without giving in and bows their heads to the hardships and evil obstacles. So no matter how many differing paths they had taken, no matter how far apart they once were, their roads would still eventually merge into one.

Someday, somehow, they would return to each other’s side. They knew it in their hearts.

To a world for just the both of us who believe in eternity, my heart will go on.
