Chapter 49:

Now that after Kazuya had closed off all the deals and projects, he had been slightly more free and could finally spend his time with Jin. Their relationship got back on the right track.

Kazuya felt relieved and Jin felt more than satisfied.

But let’s not forget that things are always changing. For instance, like the blooming period for flowers, it’s short yet beautiful. Just like the happy times between couples.

And… beautiful things don’t always stay for infinity. This included their relationship.

It’s identified that certain things always start to become weary and strained between couples who either always clings to one another despite the supposedly sweetness blossoming within their relationship for a period of time or just being a typical pair of couple who has their own private lives outside their relationship. Both Kazuya and Jin have this kind of balance in their relationship right from the start. But we being normal human beings can’t estimate anything so accurately. We are just normal human beings.

Therefore, weariness instead of love officially took over in the relationship. Feelings would start to blanch off as everything tended to settle down and got into a regular pattern. There were no more new fireworks and spices that could be added into the relationship.

The weary period between each couple occurs at a different time frame. Some may take a very long time before they reach this stage while some reach this stage even after just a few months time together. And this kind of weary period usually can spark off arguments in different opinions or different views on issues.

For Kazuya and Jin, this hateful weary period which could spark off some small bickering chose to arrive right at this blissful time when things began to finally settle down for them and while they were celebrating their first anniversary.

“I can’t believe that he actually forgets about that!” Jin mumbled crossly while placing his briefcase and suit down on the couch heavily.

“Our first anniversary is today and yet I have to celebrate it alone?” Jin pointed the fact out lividly. “How ironic!”

He walked to the kitchen and poured himself a glass of water before gulping down the content at one go. He slammed the empty glass down on the table loudly and exhaled deeply.

“Woof.”

Jin looked down to see Ran-chan and Chocolate peering up at him curiously yet looking sympathetic at the same time.

“Sorry for the loud noise. Are you guys hungry? Come on, I will give you your food now.”

Jin poured some dog food onto their designed plate and placed it down on the floor for them. “Sorry... I came back late tonight.” He stroked on the heads of Ran-chan and Chocolate’s. “Eat slowly ne…”

“But at least I didn’t forget to come back…” He murmured ruefully again after a few moments of silence, starting to feel a bit irate. “Unlike Kazu. He didn’t even remember that today is our anniversary.”

Ran-chan paused in her dinner and looked up at Jin, staring at him with her big beady eyes. Chocolate who was munching on his food beside her mirrored her action. “You understand me, don’t you Ran-chan?” Jin rubbed on her head lovingly. “Kazu hasn’t been spending a lot of time with me, with us.” Jin looked at Chocolate next.

“He’s been really cold to us these days ne…” Jin complained.

He then stood up in bitterness and went into the bedroom to get ready for a hot, calming bath.

Tonight you’re not here again.

Do I really have to celebrate the anniversary alone?
Is it considered as our anniversary then?

Kazuya looked at the almond sponge cake soaked in the strawberry liquor that was laced with pistachio butter cream creation right in front of him on the glass diner table. There’s a sweet, chocolate plate written with ‘Happy 1st Anniversary, my love’ placed on the top.

“Luckily, I got back in time.” Kazuya panted, sparing a glance at his watch and looked at the direction of their bedroom next. “Looks like Jin just got home not long ago.” Kazuya finally released a sigh of relief. “I made it. Thanks to Pi.” He made a mental note in his mind to treat his friend the next day for his kind reminder.

He had seriously forgotten about their important anniversary tonight as he had been busy with the projects he had to handle. If Yamapi did not remind him earlier on, he would just treat this day as a normal day then. And he wondered… what would the consequence be?

“I wonder will Jin like it.” Kazuya mumbled to himself while still waiting for Jin to emerge from their bedroom as he had noticed that the latter was currently taking a bath. Kazuya, who had just reached home a few minutes after Jin, seized the chance to set up everything before Jin could step out from his bath.

He sent Ran-chan and Chocolate back to their beds and ordered them to take an early rest tonight. He hoped the dogs weren’t feeling offended though. Afterall, it’s Jin’s and his night tonight.

“Surprise.” Kazuya whispered in a small voice playfully and switched off the lights around the whole apartment, leaving only the dimmed light at the dining area, eliciting a very mysterious yet romantic atmosphere lingering in the cool-conditioned air. He sat down quietly on the couch, still dressed in his working suit, calming himself down in the living room and waited patiently to make his surprised appearance.

A few minutes later, Jin who was dressed in a white bathrobe came into view and was drying his hair with a towel. He looked around the dark apartment, feeling puzzled.

“I thought I left the lights on before I went for my bath?”

He ventured slowly around and saw the lighted dining area. He tilted his head and called out.

“Ran-chan?”

No response.

“Chocolate?”

Still, no sound came.

As Jin moved towards the only lighted area suspiciously, he murmured deviously. “What?”

When he reached the glass table, he saw the cake and a bottle of wine. He immediately got the picture.

“Kazu? Are you home?”

No response either.

“What the hell?” He mumbled grudgingly to himself. “Did he decide to go out somewhere at the very last minute after setting these up?” He put down the towel at one of the chairs and stared at the cake intensely. “Cake?”

He examined the cake thoroughly and finally let out a chuckle. “Well, at the very least, he still remembered it; I thought he has forgotten about it since he’s been so busy lately…” Anger long lost, dull grumbles long forgotten with the appearance of the sweet cake. Jin continued to mumble haphazardly to himself, totally oblivious to another presence who’s observing him amusedly in the same room.

“Looks pretty enough. And the liquor smell is strong. I love this.” Jin complimented raptly; the reason why his lover wasn’t with him was forgotten at that short moment. He decided not to wait for his lover and intended to sneak a bite at one of the strawberries when a low voice spoke up lowly from behind him.

“Forgotten about me? How can you start off this fun yourself, my dear?”

Jin turned around and saw Kazuya standing languidly a few steps away from him, smiling at him naughtily.

“Where have you been?” Jin questioned the only question that popped out in his mind at that moment in a deadpan voice.

“Well, I have been waiting for my lover obediently in the living room since I reached home. However, that said lover only has eyes for the pretty cake on the table and ignored his pretty lover who has been waiting quietly in the living room.” Kazuya whined cutely.

“Oh…” Jin smiled sheepishly. “I’m sorry.” Upon hearing Kazuya’s sweetened whiny voice made Jin forgot his anger totally and everything bad seemed forgotten instantly.

“It’s okay; I have decided to forgive my lover, given the fact that he had just complimented me though.” Kazuya smirked.

“Come over.” Jin ordered.

Kazuya sauntered over and hung his arms over Jin’s neck sensually. Jin leaned over and pecked on Kazuya’s lips.

“Thank you.”

Kazuya smiled ethereally.

Another sensual peck.

“I felt very blessed.”

“Me too…” Kazuya answered raptly, lost in the love of Jin’s kiss.

And another peck.

“You are my happiness, Kazu.”

“No one else but only you.”

Another peck.

“But if I were to tell you that I did not prepare any gift for you today. Will you be angry with me?”

Kazuya stared at Jin for a few moments before he smirked again. “Well, I won’t be if only you intend to give me yourself then.”

Jin laughed out. “Of course. Then I will be very willing to give you myself, my love. I have got nothing but myself to offer to you. So please take good care of me~”

Kazuya smiled. “Baka! Though you don’t have any gifts, I do have one for you though, Jin.”

“Oh, what is that?” Jin asked, eyes shining with excitement.

“Myself.” Kazuya answered sexily and leaned only Jin.

“Hey, you copied me!” Jin accused.

“Nope. I intended to do that right from the beginning but you only told me this now. So it’s not counted. You were the one who cheated.”

Jin pouted and stared at Kazuya quietly.

“Jin, don’t be a baby, come on, let’s sit down and have our fun.”

“What fun?” Jin asked, though he still obeyed.

“Our first anniversary, Jin.”

Just then, Jin stilled. Everything swam back to his mind.

First anniversary.

Oh yes, of course he remembered. How could he forget?

He was feeling angry with Kazuya. He thought Kazuya was the one who forgot their anniversary. Just then, the forgotten rage started to build up bit by bit just with this thinking.

“I know it’s our anniversary. I thought you will be the one who forgot about that though.” Jin said stiffly, changing his attitude immediately. Kazuya noticed this but he did not know what he should do, after all, there were not many times they had arguments throughout their relationship for this whole time.

“Hmm, I admitted that I did nearly forget about it. But Pi has reminded me so that I could hurry to get the cake and got home earlier tonight.” Kazuya replied bluntly in a sorrowful voice.

“See.” Jin sulked gloomily. “Early? You called this early? And what… Pi even had to remind you of your own anniversary with your boyfriend?” Jin started to shout in a higher, angrier voice.

“Hey… look, I’m sorry. I don’t mean it. I was too tight up with work that I-” Kazuya started to try to explain.

“Work is always the most important to you, isn’t it?” Jin cut him off rudely.

“No! Jin, please listen to me.” Kazuya panicked. This was absolutely not what he had expected. Not the surprise he wanted right from the beginning.

And Jin gritted his teeth and inhaled deeply once to allow himself to listen to Kazuya. “Go on. I’m listening.”

“I… I admitted it is my fault. I was too engrossed in my work lately that I have neglected you. I even have to let Pi to remind me of today. I’m really sorry about it.” Kazuya clarified, still feeling nervous about this outbreak. He held Jin’s hands in his and continued frantically. “But! But I really love you, Jin. I mean… I must have you understand that I did all these is for you, for us. I wanted us to live a better life.”

“A better life?” Jin threw the question back, a frown etched in the middle of his eyebrows. “Aren’t we living well enough now?”

By knowing you, I have already owned the best in the world.

“We... we are. But, I wanted us to live even better. You understand? Our-”

Jin cut him off the second time. “I don’t understand! Our lives are good enough now, Kazu.” The frown carved deeper.

“No! Jin, it’s different!” Kazuya argued stubbornly.

“Different in what sense? What are you lacking of? We have lots of money, we have posh cars, we have our high-paid jobs, we have our shared apartment, we have friends who understand and love us, we have Ran-chan and Chocolate as companion, we have nice parents who accept us, we have our love, and we have US!” Jin yelled out loudly in exasperation, making the chair toppled. “What else do you even need?!”

Since when have we lost those wonderful things that we want somewhere?

A/N: Gomen ne…I wanted to post this up on X’mas itself but I got too busy and forgot. In addition, I have actually come up with a oneshot for X’mas but erm… I dun have the time to finalize and expand the plot. =( So I think I will have to postpone that to probably new year? Is there anyone who is even interested in this new story? =p

Regarding the going of this fic, hmm, the angst starts from here. I’m sorry to make you sad when it’s just after X’mas… ^^” but erm… as you have read, it wasn’t a happy time for them now. But this angst phase is part of the important turning point for the couple. If you miss out this angst part, I supposed it’s like you’re wasting time to read this right from the prologue. Haha, am I exaggerating here? I think so ne? Lol. XD Anyhow, don’t be too sad and read on alright? *hugs* Go with the flow ‘kay? Feedbacks and comments are always welcomed and treasured~ =) Happy X’mas again, though its 2 days late. =p
