Summary: Their love journey has been through a lot of ups and downs stretched through the years. Broke-up, getting back together, leaving again to only return with regrets, just how many ups and downs should they encounter in total to attain the real happiness?
Chapter 10:
“RYO? What the hell did Ryo tell you about!?” Yamapi yelled out, now demanding to know.
~ FLASHBACK ~
“Kame, hold on a second! I need to talk to you.” Ryo let out while panting slightly after trying to get to Kame from a certain distance inside the Johnny’s building.
Kame turned around and raised a curious eyebrow at Ryo, waiting for him to regain his normal breathing. “Ryo?”
“K-kame, I… I need to tell you something.” Ryo started. “Regarding… Jin.”
Kame’s expression darkened immediately upon hearing that name. That particular name which he has been screaming in his mind silently every time the image of the older man drifted naturally into his mind inevitably, hoping to gain some unseen attention.
“What about him?” Kame asked back coolly. “We are alright with each other now.”
“Kame… Jin… he told me some things after he came back from L.A. and I thought you should be the most suitable person to know this.” Ryo explained.
“I do not need anything else now, Ryo. Jin and I are trying our best to get along once again, we are fine… so… I don’t need the hurtful past. No longer…” Kame aimed to sound strong but he concluded he had failed from what he saw in Ryo’s eyes.
“No, Kame. You need to know this. You have the right! And I am still going to tell you no matter are you willing to listen or not.” Ryo said firmly, leaving no chance for Kame to retort. “Jin, he still loves you. Ever since that last break-up you two had, he regretted a lot over his actions and words. He’s remorseful. He really is.”
Ryo turned to lean back on the wall behind them and let out a tired sigh. Kame mirrored him and stood beside him quietly, waiting for him to go on. Somehow, a part of him wanted to just leave Ryo there, but another part of him wished to stay back and hear it all, to hear what had been on Jin’s mind all along. Afterall, he deserved it, doesn’t he?
“Jin, he…” Ryo paused and inhaled again, starting afresh with his sentence one more time. “A few nights ago, we went to a club as usual for our drinking spree. But I couldn’t fathom how he failed to stay sober like he always does when all he had that night was three glasses of vodka.” Ryo emphasized while protruding his three fingers out at Kame to highlight his point. “Nothing else along with those three.”
“Anyway… that’s not important. The important point I wanted to highlight is that… Jin said something which I don’t think he himself even remembered while he was acting crazy in his drunken state.” Ryo continued. “Are you interested to hear it?”
Kame merely twisted his head and glared at Ryo briefly. “Maybe. If not, why am I staying back now?”
“Good.” Ryo complimented while laughing a bit. “At least I make you stay and hear me out.”
“So, as I was saying he mentioned something. Jin, he said he regretted whatever he had done to you, misunderstood you, blaming you, yelling those hideous lies at you. But he still did not forget about you and he can’t. He still loves you. He doesn’t want to give you up, not to… you know… say, Pi?”
Kame shot his head up again and fixed a fierce look at Ryo. “There’s nothing between Yamapi and me! How many times do I need to clarify that to get the real meaning across?” Kame yelled.
“I know! I know there’s nothing between you and him! But! You certainly can’t deny the fact that Yamapi do likes you. Perhaps in the slightest bit.” While Ryo pointed that obvious fact out, Kame remained silent and huffed out in angry puff.
“And because of this, Jin said that he doesn’t want to get back with you.” Ryo said nonchalantly. But his words had made an impact and caused Kame to wince inwardly.
“He did that is not because of whatever shit he blames you on… it is purely because he thinks that between Pi and him, you deserved Pi better. You should go to Pi and not him. He blamed himself for not being able to give you the happiness you yearn for. He thinks that he doesn’t deserve you at all. That’s why… he chose to let you go, set you free and let you do whatever you want. So long he can continue to watch over you and loves you, he doesn’t need anything else. That is this baka’s unrequited love for you, Kame.”
Kame sniffed a bit and let out a shaky sound. “… So…?”
“So… he left for L.A. alone.” Ryo shrugged. “He thought that by doing that, he can forget about you and starts everything anew while carrying his unrequited love for you. He even went clubbing with those blonde chicks to deceive himself. Such a pathetic baka~” Ryo laughed lightly.
However, Kame remained quiet. Ryo’s laughter faded gradually and he remained silent in his position too, not knowing how to break the icy tension around them. After a long moment of waiting, Kame called out softly at last.
“Ryo…”
“Hmm?”
“Why did you tell me this?”
“Because… I hope that baka’s unrequited love for you can be answered.”
~ END OF FLASHBACK ~
“When did Ryo tell you that?” Yamapi asked with anger still evident in his tone.
“About two weeks after Jin had returned.” Kame answered quietly.
“And you believed him? Believed Jin with whatever Ryo had told you?” Yamapi inquired with rage.
“I… want to. I believe that Jin… he still loves me. At least that is what Ryo had affirmed to me.”
“He may love you, but he doesn’t need you anymore!” Yamapi yelled out blindly. At this moment, he doesn’t care if he sounded selfish or harsh, he just wanted Kame to snap out of his past and accepted him, and with whatever it took.
“I used to think so like you too, Pi! I thought Jin doesn’t need me anymore, I thought I don’t need Jin anymore! But… Ryo’s words made me realized that… I have been denying myself that real fact. I do need him… and Jin probably needs me too.” Kame’s screaming turned into a whisper gradually. “I… can’t make it… without Jin.”
“But Kame! Just when are you going to understand that Jin will never comes back to you?! He may love you till now but… he did all those awful things to you and said nasty things to you! How can you take all those!? Are you stupid? Are you blind!? Why can’t you see that the one who really loves you unconditionally, is standing right in front of your damn face!?” Yamapi nearly got choked on his tears while trying to get Kame to understand the situation.
“He’s feeling too guilty to return to you…” Yamapi babbled.
“Pi, I-I’m sorry. I can’t reciprocate your feelings. I like you too… just as a friend, not a boyfriend. You are… just not the right one. You are perfect. Too perfect. I don’t want a perfect boyfriend; I don’t need a perfect lover. All I want is Jin.” Kame cried out aloud by now and murmured but still, clearly understood by Yamapi. “You may be right, I am stupid. But… I still wanted to give us a chance. If Jin is still rejecting me after this one last chance, then I will really give up. Give up forever.” Kame looked up at Yamapi into his eyes straightly and determinedly.
Yamapi stared at Kame in disbelief through his tears-filled eyes. Kame is being so persistent, he’s iron-willed. Too strong-willed.
“Pi, you will support me, right?”
If you love someone, tell them. Remember always to say what you mean. Never be afraid to express yourself. Take this opportunity to tell someone what they mean to you.
