It's stuck in my head because I can't work out if he is protesting about the indoctrination of schools (a la Pink Floyd) or worrying that he didn't listen to their sage wisdom. The only advice I can remember from the lyrics is 'be nice, always think twice' - this is neither particualrly authoritarian, nor wise. I think it's an uneasy combination of nostalgia, and 'hey kids, them grownups don't know shit'. Rather like 'Baggy Trousers' - but that was quite a fun song.
And I REFUSE to resolve this dilemma by looking up the lyrics.
