LA LA LA LA LA!!
Long time no posting...
I've done my fair share of working lately, but nothing too major since I haven't taught since the 15th. Today was the first day since then that I put any thought at all into teaching, so it's been a nice break (I did however dive in pretty deep and grade a hundredsome tests). I think I worked 20some hours this past week at Chang's just to keep the cash flowing. Then I work tomorrow night, a double Saturday, and on Sunday evening. Then it's off to Sarah's for the new year's eve party w/her and Jessee's fun gang :-)
Since I haven't been working tons, here's what I have done:
I went to visit Jenn one day. We did some shopping at Robinson and she showed me her new office building. She's working for a pretty big engineering group right by the Pittsburgh airport, so she's pretty excited about that. I got some shopping done and loved the visit. I also stopped by my aunt's house to get my hair trimmed up and highlighted :-)
We had a PMA girls reunion at Kate's last Friday/Saturday. Mallo from Australia came to visit, so it was great to meet him. He was really fun and entertaining. We didn't do a lot, but the highlights included having Kate do the Elf move on the escalator, buying 6 meals from Arby's with all coupons, making some Aussie merangue cake, playing spoons, having strawberry margarita slush, and just chillaxin w/my girls.
I worked Christmas Eve but went home asap that night. We opened presents together that night. I got some good stuff: Deluxe turntable/lattice grid/wooden Scrabble, Apple to Apples, a Christmas ornament, some pj's w/penguins on them, a really nice pair of silver and gold earrings, a tropical themed stained glass wind chime (sounds odd, but I LOVE it!), a couple of cd's, candy, money, and other stuff that I can't think of. So I think I made out pretty well :-)
Christmas Day was spent at my Aunt's, as always. We played some fierce Catch Phrase for awhile, grazed on the food, watched a movie, and just visited. My youngest cousins (the 5 girlies) didn't come til later, but I had a great time with them. Jeremi also stopped by, and it was great to see him. His Dad just passed away (from cancer....) and so I'm really glad he came since he's like family.
The day after Christmas my Momma and I went out and did some shopping in Zanesville. I stocked up on all kinds of gift wrapping (and I got a cool container to store it all in too!), a poster for my non-existent classroom, Christmas cards for next year, and a few other random things.
Yesterday my Grandma and Uncle Scott came over to visit and check out my apartment and city. We went to some places in Gahanna and Easton and then had a late lunch at Chang's. They enjoyed it all :-)
*See facebook for some good pics of the above visits and events*
I've spend a good bit of time with Adam. His sister came into town the day after Christmas and I went out to dinner with them. They amused me with their stories of their annual bingo game on Christmas. I don't think we've done anything super exciting lately though as we've both been in and out of town for the holidays. He gave me a tour of campus as I requested and that was fun. For Christmas he got me a framed poster for my classroom (that one I plan on having for next year...). It has Albert Einstein standing at a chalkboard and it says something like "I can assure you that difficulties in math are far greater than yours". I love it! I've looked for it in several places but haven't been able to find it. I gave him two of my gifts for him, but not the third. He loves to travel so I got a map of the world (oddly enough, those things are hard to find, which is why he doesn't have it yet), and I'm going to put it on cork board and give him two different colored pins, one color to mark where he's been and another color to mark where he wants to go. I'm working on the corkboard part tomorrow so that he can have it tomorrow night.
My Mom called this afternoon and told me some interesting news. I'm now invited to a baby shower on the 13th. Yeah...
I also need to get my car washed and make my lil about me poster for outside of my classroom door. I'll get some things at Jo-Ann's tomorrow for that.
My Momma is having surgery on the 26th of this month to get her fillable implants removed and to have the permanant ones put in. All things considered and in comparison to the last, it should go pretty well.
K, off to get a few more things done before I shower and retire for the night.
Miss me!
