Ever have a tired hangover?

Apr 29, 2005 07:16

When you get so damned tired that, upon waking, you have all the symptoms of a real hangover? Even though you haven't had a drop of alcohol or any kind of drug? I woke up with one of those yesterday...and then proceeded to have one of the busiest days I've experienced in awhile.

Wake at 6:30. Quickly begin massage technique to fend off migraine proportion headache that's causing nausea. Drink coffee and grunt at son. Try to study a bit before school, then give up. Eventually shower and get ready for school, all in slow motion.

Classes from 9:30 until 1:30, as math let out early.

1:40 pm. Work on spanish composition at table outside spanish teacher's office.

2:00 pm. Begin oral exam in spanish with Heather. The stress was irritating, as it caused many, many words to fly right out of my head and hide. Exam which was supposed to take fifteen minutes including prep time took 45 minutes.

2:50 pm. Leave school with ten minutes to get across town, find a parking space, and register for doctor appointment at 3:00.

3:05 pm. Register late, go to snack room and fight with machine for chips. Scarf chips while finishing spanish composition, then do algebra homework.

4:30 pm. Finally get called into exam room. Break out tape recorder and listen to 30 minutes of history class.

5:00 pm. Discuss results of ultrasounds with doc. Make decision to schedule cat scan of gallbladder.

5:15 pm. Haul ass to jr. high, where child was released from band practice at 4:30. Child not there, so check two places she might have gone before going home. Find child in shower.

5:40 pm. Wolf down leftover cube steak with water while reading the Declaration of Independence for writing class.

6:00 pm. Take daughter and her friend back to jr. high so they can set up for band concert. Return home.

6:25 pm. Try to get translations of a couple of words/phrases for spanish composition. Fail to find proper translation for "still".

6:50 pm. Return to jr. high with son to hear band concert. Spend fifteen minutes searching for a parking space that isn't twelve blocks away, since it's raining...still.

8:45 pm. Decide that kids are way too excited to allow them into my car while I drive, give them fifteen minutes to get the whooping, laughing, jumping, screaming and high fives out of their system. Tell them repeatedly how proud I am because they nailed all three competition pieces perfectly. Agree with them repeatedly that they're bringing home the trophy from Six Flags on Saturday.

9:00 pm. Drive home. Turn computer over to teenage girls so they can finish and type up science report thingy for school, which is due today.

9:45 pm. Fall asleep sitting up in recliner waiting for bedroom to be clear for bedtime.

11:30 pm. Finally turn out light and pass out in nice soft bed.

...sleep for ten minutes, then wake to find more than six hours have passed. And here I am.

I am so tired I could just about cry.
