Amazing. The Spirit of the West Coast was this huge Christian music festival and I went with a bunch of friends (Jon, Judy, Jess, Jenn, Fred, Justin, and some more... I think. I'm totally wasted) to Monterey. I was burned to a crittery crisp, I can tell you that. The sun was blazing.
The first person to play that we saw was Chris Tomlin. The moment I heard his voice, I knew it was going to be something special cuz he was the guy in all those Passion worship gatherings!! I was like "DUDE!! AWESOME!! It's him!!" It was totally awesome, singing "Here I am to Worship," "Famous One," and ya, he was awesome. The next artist, 4Him (which I didn't particularly enjoy), played three hours later so I was sitting under the hot blazing sun, in the row behind a long metal bar keeping us from the stage, which was 20 feet away so they were good seats. Artificial turf, Yum. After 4Him was the "punk Christian" band Relient K. They were pretty tite! Very good live sound, and very strong bass. I might try downloading some of their stuff. After them was Mercy Me. Now that was cool. They sang the big hit "I can only imagine."
But ppls, the next group was the BEST. THIRD DAY. That was the main reason I went to see this instead of Phantom of the Opera. I couldn't believe I was watching them perform live in front of me. It was an awesome time, Praise Jesus. They sang all their good songs, including "Consuming Fire," "Show me your glory," "God of Wonders," and for an encore, they did "come together" and "your love oh lord." I took a BUNCH of pictures that I'll upload and post once I get online in Taiwan, cuz I don't have my USB chord as of now. But ya, it was truly amazing and God was totally there. I lost my voice and now I'm totally tired cuz we got back home at 1:20 Am, a 2 hour drive. We were all so dead tired, but it was truly... oh man. Awesome. Third Day sounded just like the CD.
Peace out guys, Pics will come of the bands later, promise!
