Cliff Rose Year 1 Spring: Girls Dorm
Last season i wrote how i was begining to love my little family; Bunny and Alberta were becoming my life but then Alberta left to marry Antwan and it's just Bunny and I alone in this house. The smell of a home cooked meal is rare now that Alberta isn't with us, and the two of us aren't the best at gardening the way she is. I'm realizing that she was the glue for our family, like the mother, but now she's gone off to start a family of her own...even if it's not working out the way she planned. A selfish part of me hopes she comes back. I'm feeling more lonely now than i ever have in my life. - Paola R. 1.2
Bunny, missing her best friend Alberta, spends most of her nights painting. The house is much quieter without the calls of "What do you want for dinner?" and "Whose turn is it to clean the bathroom!?"
Paola, too, spent much of her hours in solitary study. She looked to the stars, reporting her findings back to NASA and simply enjoying the view. As lonely as she was being in the quiet house was worse than under the infinate stars.
Bunny wasn't the first settler to report a strange sighting but she wasn't sure if it was just her imagination playing tricks on her. As she attempted to keep Albertas plants thriving she could swear there was somene standing in the garden with her but when she looked up there was no one.

Bunny: Lina had her baby yesterday!
Paola: Really? Oh I can't wait to see the little Martian. Boy or girl?
Bunny: Boy. His name is Frederick but they're already calling him Fritz, we'll see him tonight when eveyrone stops by!

Eli: Hello beautiful.
Paola: Hi, Eli. What do you want?
Eli: I just wanted to remind you that you're loved, is all.
Paola: You're funny Eli.
Eli: Haha, maybe but I am being serious. I know I'm not as smart as you or as attractive but, damn, i wish you'd give me a chance...
Paola: What? Really?
Eli: Of course, Baby. I've been pretty lonely since Antwan left with Alberta and...I can't stop thinking about you.
Paola:...Well...um maybe you could...stay here? For a little hwile of course. Just so we can keep each other company?
Eli: Thanks Baby, I appreciate it.
Maybe it was the loneliness...maybe it was because she's young and he's the first man who ever called her beautiful. Whatever the reason his heart or his shoes he stood there on Christmas Eve hating the Whos she felt loved when he took her in his arms. It wasn't until after that she remembered the young austronaut that had loved her newspaper and told her she was a wonderful writer...somehow that had made her feel more beautiful than "beautiful" ever could.
Guys i don't even know what's going on in this game anymore okay?
Nothing stays quiet for long.
Reuben: So you and Eli, huh?
Paola: Yes, why does everyone keep saying that?
Reuben: Well, I don't know I guess we all thought you'd make a better choice than that...
Paola: Who? Like you?
Reuben: ...Me? Oh, well it's not that I - Haha. I guess what I mean is, i don't think I'm worthy of having such an intelligent young woman on my arm but I wish i had been given a chance.
Paola:... Oh.
As young as she is Paola knows what this sickness is. It's not what she had planned but there were worse things that could happen, weren't there?
Bunny didn't like to concern herslef with the drama of finding a mate; she already knew that none of the men or women on this planet were her sould mate so why bother? She spent her days painting, gardening, or outside jogging or catching bugs. Anything to fill the long lonely hours.
Eli: Cherrie! How are you?
Cherrie: Hi, Eli! Haven't seen you in days how have you been?
Eli: Well my days get brighter when I see your pretty smile...
Cherrie: Haha. Oh, Eli stop it!
Eli: Only if you really want me too...
I don't understand anything that's happening halp!
Paola: If I vomit one more time I'm going to die. Simple as that.
Eli: Are you feeling any better Baby?
Paola: Oh, Eli you're too sweet.
Bunny: So Paola, i saw some things today you might find interesting...
Paola: Oo what was it?
Bunny: On second thought you should ask Eli. He had a fun day with a guest.
Eli:...Uh yeah, Bunny you were outside when Antwan came over. We talked about his cheating on Alberta and it was pretty interesting.
Bunny: Cheaters are the salt of the Earth don't you think Eli?
Paola: Guys? What is all this about?
Both: Nothing.
It wasn't a huge surprise to Paola when her belly began to grow, she'd know it would happen she just still wasn't sure how she felt about it.
Eli often slep in Paolas bed with her but as her belly grew he spent more and more time on the couch with excuses each time he didn't come to bed. On those nights Bunny would sit with her until she slept or just watch over her as she dreamed. she could help but feel protective over the girl that had become family to her and in any situation having a baby at barley 20 was a hard thing.
Eli makes her swoon.
Swelling belly doesn't mean she can't pull her weight. Gardening helps with the stress anyway.

Bunny: ALBERTA! Hi! Did you hear baby's pregnant?
Alberta; What!? No! She hasn't said anyting about that?
Alberta: Oh, Baby, pregnancy suits you!
Paola: No offense, but my back hurts and I think I'm going to go puke in compost...I don't see how torture suits anyone.
Bunny: Welcome to my life, girl.
Eli: Oh hello gorgeous. I'm sorry to hear about the trouble you've been having.
Alberta: oh, thanks Eli...You should go to Baby, she's vomiting in the compost bin.
Eli: I'd rather stay here an help you out, you don't deserve what he did.
Alberta: Look Eli, no offense but you're the last person whose advice i want.
Eli: I'm not offering advice, just...revenge?
It's not really cheating if you don't have sex with them, and besides he and Baby weren't actually a 'thing' they just had sex every now and again. At least that's how he calmed his mind as he kissed Alberta.
Eli Mandel ladies and gentlemen.
Alberta: So, what brings you here?
Cherrie: Oh nothing, i just like to come by, check on Baby...
Alberta: I didn't knwo you and Baby were friends.
Eli: Ohai wittle baby!
Paola: Haha
Eli: So do you know who the father is?
Paola: Eli. Who else would it be but you?
Eli: I don't know. I never questioned who you were with.
Paola: Wat the hell!? Eli! I've never been with anyone BUT you!
Eli: Really?
Paola: How could you question your own childs paternity, are you going to do this for every baby we have?
Eli: No offense Paola, i never planned on having this baby and I don't intend to have any more.
Paola: *crying* Why are you only telling me all this now!?
After a cry session, in which Bunny had to rub her back and bring her an ice pack for her eyes Baby was calm enough to sit in Eli's presence though she was no longer blind to his true nature. She was just a fuck toy to him and that's all she'd ever been... Once Bunny had talked with him he left the house and hadn't been back, Paola guessed that was for the best.

With Eli gone the girls lives returned to normal; they read, gardened, stargazed, anything to fill the hours before the baby arrived to fill the void in their little family.
Bunny: you set three plates again Baby.
Paola: Yeah...I just keep forgetting it's just us...well until my little Martian get's here.
Bunny: Thought of any names?
Paola: Well i ahd wanted to name it after Eli; Eli of Elisa but that's not going to happen now...Maybe Bunny? Hahaha
Bunny: I'd be honeored :)
My father will never know his gradchild, this baby will play alongside the Dominion children not the Ruddy hoard, he may not even know which of the men in the colony is his father. I came to this colony to write, to explore, to live life and yet here I am. 19, single, pregnant by a man i loathe, and not any closer to my newspaper being published. Achievments:
O Eli managed to get three whole women to fall in love with him and they were all in the house at the same time and me and that dick pulled it off. I'm a little proud.
O Paola is pregnant with Eli's baby
O No one really did anything toward the advancement of the colony. Oops.
