The Good 'ol Carefree Days...

I remember when getting high
Meant swinging on the playground
The only streets you knew
Were the ones laid out in your town
The opposite sex
Only gave you the cooties
Now you're trippin'
Wondering about the next booty
Watching the garbage truck
Eat up the garbage was fun
The days back when
You were your father's son
And when people talked about getting the blotter
It was just finger-painting for you as a young daughter
I remember when
They'd teach you to say please
Teachers and siblings
Were your only enemies
Race issues were who ran the fastest
It wasn't about who's gonna get blasted
The Middle-East
Was just a name in our brains
And the only war was just a playing-card game
The only drugs you knew
Was cough medicine
The only drama was at a play-house, saying "Let us all in!"
Back then, a slut wasn't a girl who wore a skirt
Because she wasn't looking for any guys to hurt
The only thing you smoked were the tires on your bike
The only thing you swung was a bat at a strike
Yeah, I remember back when we were girls and boys
All we worried about was breaking any of our toys
The only thing that hurt was our skinned knees
Back in the days, when life was simple & carefree
It was when happiness came as cookies and a full cup
But what I remember most was wanting to grow up....
