Cliffhanger!

>>Chapter 6<<

Clark looked down at Tim. Tim looked up at Clark. Don and Danny were talking a bit of shop while they waited for their table. Double dating suddenly seemed like a bad idea. Bruce *had* Kryptonite, after all, and when Bruce found out about Tim’s relationship he would hit the roof, and then he would blame Clark, and then he would do something bad to Clark. Not that it was in any way shape or form Clark’s fault, but Bruce would find some way to blame it on him. Which wasn’t fair at all, but it would happen. Tim was still looking at him.

“You’re going to get me in *so* much trouble.” Clark said to him, glaring but not really. Tim gave him a look that was somewhere between ‘oh no’ and ‘ask me if I really care’, which only went towards putting Clark in a worse mood. The first reason being, Lex wouldn’t let Clark take Conner for the weekend to actually meet and get to know Don. Upon telling Batman, Bruce had figured Lex was still carrying a torch and this was his way of making sure that whatever happened between Don and Clark didn’t extend to the seriousness of having/raising/taking care of a kid together. Clark had had to agree, but he didn’t like it any more with it being put that way. That somehow made it worse, since Lex seemed to be trying to deliberately sabotage his relationship.

Danny had been half listening to Don, half listening to Clark and Tim so with that comment, his eyebrow rose.

“Why would you get in trouble?” He asked. Don was curious as well. Clark sighed.

“Bruce gets a little…” He trailed off, trying to think of a word.

“Weird.” Tim supplied.

“Possessive…” Clark corrected, “when it comes to his kids.” Danny and Don exchanged a look.

“As a friend of Bruce’s and someone who is partaking in this double date, Bruce will construe this as me being in the position to warn you away from Tim before you incur Bruce’s wrath.” Clark explained. “On the other hand, Tim has a good head on his shoulders and I trust his judgment and you’re Don’s friend and I trust you. So as long as everything stays good and clean and rated R until Tim reaches adulthood, I don’t see a problem with it.”

“The age of consent is fifteen…” Tim said moodily. Clark patted him on the head.

“Try explaining that one to Bruce, kiddo.” Clark advised. “It didn’t work for Dick, I highly doubt it’ll work for you.” Tim pouted a little.

“He let Helena date at that age.” He said.

“Yes, but Helena was dating someone who didn’t dare cross *that* line until she was eighteen and I *know* you, you’re a little minx.” He didn’t add, and take after your little brother. “Just keep it clean for a few more years and you shouldn’t have a problem.” Tim kept pouting. “That doesn’t work on Bruce and it won’t work on me either… drop it.”

Don was chuckling at Danny’s face, he looked positively mournful.

“And just remember, I can hear you no matter where you are.” He added softly. The blush that stained Tim’s cheeks just made Don laugh harder.

Clark was getting frustrated with Lex, really frustrated. He was about ready to just find some reason to put him in prison, just so he could get Conner for the weekend. Lex was not returning his calls or when he brought up getting Conner for a weekend, Lex would hang up on him. Don was at work currently while Clark paced the floor in frustration. He was going to wear a hole in the floor if he didn’t sit down. He could have asked for help from Bruce or even Kara, but it seemed like such a horrendously trivial thing to call other people to help with. He should be able to resolve this.

He was seriously considering just kidnapping the kid from the next Teen Titans meeting and then ignoring Lex’s calls until he was damn well good and ready to give the kid back. Honestly, he was as much Clark’s as he was Lex’s and it just wasn’t *fair* that he was being denied access because he didn’t want to be *near* Lex outside the influence of Pink Kryptonite. He sighed and grabbed the phone, trying Lex again.

Which ended in a dead end again.

He growled and donned his costume, exiting through the window in a blur.

Superman arrived at Titan’s Tower to see Impulse, Superboy, and Robin throwing a football around on the roof. Superman was still fuming. Impulse stopped in mid-throw as Superman landed. He stormed to Superboy angry, not that he was angry at Conner. Robin and Impulse exchanged a look. He looked at Conner.

“You’re my son too, damnit.” He growled out. Conner nodded with wide eyes.

“I know.” He said.

“I’m kidnapping you.” Superman informed him. “Right now.” He gave Robin a look that dared him to try and stop him. When Robin didn’t speak, Superman gathered Conner in to his arms and zoomed off. Robin and Impulse gave one another similar looks and went back to tossing the football around.

“If anyone asks, we didn’t see anything.” Robin informed Impulse. Impulse nodded.

“Yasureyoubetcha.” He responded.

Conner looked down at the phone display. He already had 30 missed calls from Lex, but Clark had told him not to answer his phone if Lex called. Of course, he felt a little bad-but it wasn’t any fun for Lex to keep him from Clark. And Lex wouldn’t even be able to track him down, since Clark had taken him to Don’s house. So, Conner was watching TV and hoping someone besides Lex would call him so he’d have some company. Clark had gone out to get some stuff for dinner and Don was working.

He turned it over to the news and groaned softly. This was just great, just fucking perfect. Clark was going to get in so much trouble. There, in big bold white letters at the bottom of the screen:

BREAKING NEWS: Lex Luthor: “The Justice League kidnapped my son!”
