The last two weeks, I was out with the special forces helping them train for their next mission. We did many things, mostly clearing houses and other mout training. Everything was pretty memorable, even though I kept to myself for the most part. The best part was yesterday night when we did our final practice mission. I was originally intended for the mortar position where I wouldn't have to do anything (which I was totally happy about) but then I magically got pulled to be on the assault team even though Moore wanted to be on the team more than me (I didn't want to be on it at all), but you have no say in the army, so I got into position and did the mission accordingly.
I actually got shot but we didn't have to stop when we got shot so we ended up clearing about seven structures. It was dark and there were owls in some of the building which was a bit scary, but fun. That was good and all, but the best part was afterwards on the ride back to the Dona Anna camp where we had to expel all of our ammunition and extra illum (firework-like things that you shoot up into the air to light up the area). I got to shoot up an illum myself which was pretty exciting.
We didn't get back until 2:30 in the morning but I still went out to Walmart and bought an airconditioner. It felt pretty good this morning to wake up and my room wasn't like 80 degrees.
Sgt. Franklin called me up and told me the commander walked though my room and wasn't impressed (I had some stuff laying around the room (I wasn't expecting to have my room walked though) so I have to make sure that everything is straight on Monday when they walk though again.
At least I have off on Monday and Tuesday, so I can be lazy all day on those days...
