fresno review, from someone who waited 10 hours in line. O_O

this review might not be super perfect, only because the keyboard that i'm used isn't my own and it isn't the flat ones i'm used to, it's cut in twos and the letters are super spread apart. x_X, so i'm doing the best i can.

fresno is a damn easy drive, it's only about two hours from my house and since my sister's boyfriend was driving, all i had to do was just sit in the back and sleep. we get to the venue around 8:30 am, there is about 15 people in line. thrilled! i get in line and wait. i make fast friends with erica and madeline, both lead drummers in their school band, and then two girls from salinas, who ended up being some of the lamest people in line, since they have the nerve to cut in front of everyone right before they open the doors.. anyway, take pics of the line, camera is dying and i'm pissed that the camera isn't working out, so most pics are on cellphones, haven't transfered them, but will get to that, asap.

waiting in line for 10 hours isn't fun but you can make it fun! the girls in line for super fun to be with, talked about everything under the sun, music, fandom, slash, the boys, ect, ect. and in the morning the line was cool, everyone kinda new everyone was in line, so we were able to leave our stuff and wonder around the venue, looking at everything. ate subway, read books, got them to listen to SMAP and everyone had a laugh at that.

around 5pm, tons of people start coming and cutting, in the morning i was #15, now i'm #90+, not really pissed because this these girls are 90 lbs, and i know damn well they aren't going to last. so people start cutting and these chicks get their mom to get the security guards to pull people out of line who cutted. madness! insane! thrilled! my sister shows up at the LAST minute and gets in before me. lord.

ok, so later on the doors open, we get in and we run to the floor, there is only two people in front of us, madness~ so close. it's now i start to kinda flip out.

the opening act is rise against, and while they are huge in the bayarea, they are even HUGER in fresno, so many people just ripping it up for the band. their set was long and they had their women on the sidelines, so it was kinda annoying. the crowd is being the crowd and pushing, punching, the typical, for me, not a big deal, i waited in line for 10 hours, i can easily wait another hour for MCR. tons of people are getting pulled out, i totally bust my wrist lifting this girl up, now i'm in real pain and getting kinda pissed.

wrist really HURTS, and the guards are sweethearts, those people earn their money more than anything else, i have never been to a show where these group of guards have their backs for the fans, they passed out water, fanned us, some guy even bought out a leaf blower to cool us all. totally pwned. one security guard had a huge SIMcity tattoo and you know your old when you the only one that knows what is it.

#1. the end
when i least expect it, gerard way is pulled out on a hospital bed and i flipped freak OUT. he's in a hospital gown, it was actually a GOWN you wear when you go in isolation units, but that's just the nurse in me knowing that. he's hook to iv's and dead starts to play. can i possible be any more freaked out and happy. the end is a short song on the album, so he gets off the bed, rips off that hospital gown and then the music really starts to play.

#2. dead
when dead starts, gerard is at center stage, right in front of me and he slowly starts to unzip his jacket uniform. omg! omg! OMG! i'm not suppost to be liking the main guy, but from them on, he has GOT it and i freakin' need to tap that shit. i hate to be a fangirl, i'm too old for that, but holy hell. totally in LOVE. anyway, dead is massive and everyone is in a frenzy, again short song, but hearing it live brings it to life much more than i expected it.

#3. this is how i disappear.
yes! YES! yes! my song, hell i'm lying everyone song off the black parade is MY song, but this is how i disappear is where ray really starts to shine, i switch my focus on ray and he's being ray and being pimp with his guitar and totally working that crowd. he needs to maybe sing a solo song. i'd kill for that. everyone knows the word to this song and this is when people start to really crowd surf and scramble for the front.

#4. the sharpest lives.
ldkjfdlskfdslkfdsjkl! the lyrics are sometimes difficult to understand on cd, at least for myself so hearing it live, it makes so much sense, i wouldn't say it's slowed down but it's easily understandable and gerard really shakes his ass to this song for reasons unknown. i;m thrilled

#5. welcome to the black parade.
yawn. i don't care for a band when they play singles. i was never a singles type of girl, when i like a band, i like it all, the albums, b-sides and everything else. so when they get to singles, i feel like their kinda played out and esp. with wttbp, i'm kinda bored. totally being honest, the crowd seems to take a break from the song, no jumping, crowd surfing, just chillin' and singing. at the very end of the song, something happens, i won't say what, since everyone's been keeping it out of their reviews, so if you go to the show, you'll see for yourself.

#6. i don't love you.
you remember in the music video where gerard has those really emotional faces? well during the live, it looks like he so overwhelm with grief, you'd think he'd start crying right then and there. much sadder than i would have ever expected. tons of people crying at this one. grown men crying, made me almost want to cry. frank is up in front during this one, everyone's talking about his hair and what everyone's saying is right.

#7. house of wolves.
while i'm jumping around and singing to every song, and trying to get one of them to touch my hand, i take a break with this song. it's easily my least favorite song on the album. hell my ONLY unfavorite on the album, so i can't just bop around and listen in.

#8. cancer.
cancer. the highlight of the night? yes and no. all lights are on gerard and he really works it. so sad, so sad, can't stop the tears, and i gotta cry, hell, i looked around and everyone is crying, i try to see everyone, it's really hard since the crowd is so tall, everyone on stage, when the lights aren't so bright, everyone looks so grim. very sad. it's beautiful. i have my money's worth, nothing can top this. NOTHING. right?

#9. mama.
there was a poll in line, what was the one song that everyone was looking foward to live and mama was the #1 one picked. besides cancer this was the song i needed to see live. on cd it's grand, over the top and very theatrical. during the live when the song starts out with the bombs, on stage the lights go off like explosions. it starts off slowly and gerard is slinking around on stage, shaking his hips just screaming and spatting out those lyrics that take everyone by suprise. it's raw, real and you can feel the utter hate, yet that love he wants from his mother. it is everything i could have ever wanted and right when you get to that part of the song where he breaks down and wails for his mama, the pyro starts. pyro that over takes the venue, it's so shocking and he's on his knees and the pyro is going off and we're all just wailing with him for mama who just doesn't give a damn. easily the best performance of the night. at the end, everyone was just looking at everyone else like, 'whoa..'

#10. sleep.
on the cd, sleep has some of the most wrentching screams and vocals, since the song covers the patient who is struggling with the pain and fighting to live. i wonder if he would be able to pull off that intenese fight for sleep, life and maybe some sort of dignity for a peaceful end. very intense and real, i stood and watched it all, it was a real fight on stage, it was perfect.

#11. teenagers.
teenagers was a surprise! the song was really awesome, being in the pit and really upfront warps the sound a bit, you hear all this bass but not much vocals and whenever gerard talked after a song it was really difficult to understand. but teenagers was outstanding in all it's country glory. this was easily a crowd favorite, everyone was really rocking out to this song.

#12. disenchanted.
heard this song two years ago and it was easily one of my favorites and the song i was most looking foward to on the new album. two years ago it was slight fast and upbeat, the album verison it's slow and long. really long live and everyone pulled out lighters. a good time to take a break for what was coming.

#13. famous last words
fire! explosions! screaming! rolling around on the floor! people scrambling to get to the front! everyone was acting like it was the end, weird, but an insane frenzy broke out just to get to the front, everyone was ripping it up and gerard gave the crowd bits to sing out, insane and rushed. before you realize it, they are all off stage running off and the curtains are pulled to a close.

three cheers.
after a bit of a wait, the stage is cleared off and they are back out of their black parade uniforms and in their three cheers outfits, the stage has the guns and revenege logo and while not a big fan of this style of music, there was alot of people happy for the older stuff, i kinda went more back in the crowd for others to have my spot and sat back and enjoyed the older stuff. venom, prison, helena, ok, ghost, were all played, i'm sure i'm forgetting some, but again, not my favorite sound from them. it felt like a whole new set was played and the closed the show with helena.

the end~

after the show i went, met up with friends chatted about it all and looked at the merch. i'm going to the oakland show today and plan on buying all the merch then. the merch looks fantastic and will prob. be buying one of everything. ^^;;;; no shame, but i really adore the black parade album and everything that their doing now. mrc sure as hell didn't save my life, but they just made it so much better.
