Now & Forever

G, I guess?
Mikey surprises his girlfriend with a visit.
I don't know Mikey or My Chemical Romance, Maggie Maldonado isn't real, except in my head, and I write this for fun, not profit. Comments are love.
“Shit!” she exclaimed, fumbling as she picked it up. She was almost asleep, almost dreaming of her beloved Mikey, and she was annoyed that her dreams had been stolen from her.
“’Lo?” she asked, yawning into the reciever.
“Hey.”
Maggie’s sour mood disappeared the instant she heard Mikey’s voice.
“Hey!” she replied, glancing at her digital alarm clock. “Mikes, it’s 4AM, what are you doing calling so late?”
“No questions. . . just open your door.”
Maggie frowned. “My. . . the front door? Is this some kind of cruel joke? Am I going to open it hoping you‘re there only to be faced with nothing? Because that is horribly mean.”
Mikey laughed softly. “You’ll see.”
Maggie padded barefoot through her apartment to her front door. She opened it a crack and gasped when she saw Mikey standing in the hallway.
Throwing the door open, she launched herself at Mikey. “What are you DOING here? You’re supposed to be in Vegas!”
Mikey hugged Maggie close, practically carrying her with him into the small apartment. “I know. But I’m here now, and isn’t that better than being in Vegas?”
Maggie grinned up at him. “Well, not if you’re supposed to be performing and not having a few days off.”
Mikey shrugged out of his jacket. “Technical problems at the club. We play tomorrow night. So, I’m here. I thought you’d be happy about that.”
“I am! But. . . how did you even get here? Vegas is, like, 8 hours away!”
“Drove.” Mikey replied simply, as he sat down on the couch and tore his shoes off.
“You drove? What exactly did you drive? Did you hijack the tour bus?” Maggie asked, sitting down next to Mikey and laying her head on his shoulder, breathing in the scent of him.
“Nah, that’d be too much trouble. We rented a car.”
“A car? And. . . did you drive here by yourself? Because the guys know someone’s supposed to be with you when you drive in case you fall asleep.”
“That only happened once, and only for a second.”
Maggie clucked her tongue. “Even so. They let you come alone? I would think *Gerard* of all people would have.. .”
“I’m not alone. Frank drove.”
“Micro Machine?” Maggie asked, jumping up and sprinting to the door. “Did you leave him out in the hall? You’re so mean to him!”
Mikey grinned. “He got a room at a Motel 6 or something. Said he didn’t want to be the third wheel tonight.”
Maggie nodded and turned around. “Well, geez. I would have liked to have said hello at least.”
Mikey held out his cell phone. “You can call him, if you’d like.”
Maggie just stared at the proffered cell phone, her patented ‘what the fuck’ look on her face. “That’s quite alright. I’ll talk to him another time. Right now, I’d much rather spend some much-needed quality time with my long-lost boyfriend.”
Mikey’s ‘oof’ of surprise punctuated that sentence as Maggie plopped down in his lap and smiled up at him. “I missed you so much, you don’t even know.”
Mikey softly traced a finger down the side of Maggie’s face. “I think I know exactly how much. I missed you too. Phone calls, e-mails, im’ing and text messaging are nothing compared to having you with me.”
Maggie smiled mischievously. “Well, I seem to remember a few phone calls that were more. . . pleasurable than others.”
Mikey blushed slightly. “I won’t argue. Though the fun of phone sex is slightly tarnished when you’re never alone, have to hide in a tiny bathroom and stay fairly quiet while at the same time try to be sexy,’ he sighed in exasperation, ‘and God, it sucks to jerk off with so many people around. I get teased! I think they actually enjoy making me blush. You’re so lucky you don’t have a roommate or anything.”
Maggie smiled sympathetically. “Well, I can’t say I understand the teasing, but I do understand the lack of privacy. I *did* live with my parents and sisters, and if you think they haven’t heard something that was meant to be private or walked in on something they shouldn’t have seen from time to time, you’re sorely mistaken. There have been quite a few times in my life where I couldn’t look my parents or Kelly and Therese in the eyes. There are times when I still can’t!”
Mikey grinned. “I can’t wait to meet your family now, Maggie. Don’t be surprised if I start laughing the moment you introduce me.”
Maggie giggled. “Oh Mikey, that’s not true and you know it. You’ll just be shy, and keep your mouth shut, not saying a word. You know it and I know it. But they’re going to love you anyway. I do, after all.”
Mikey cocked his head to the side and studied Maggie for a moment before replying. “Well, that’s good.”
Maggie rolled her eyes. “That’s good,” she snorted. “I tell you that I’m completely, madly, utterly in love with you and you say that’s good? Way to be romantic, Michael.”
Mikey pulled Maggie close and gazed thoughtfully at her for a moment before speaking. “I love you, and only you, Margaret Maldonado. You own my heart and my soul completely.”
“Margaret? Ew. Don’t call me Margaret. Only my mom calls me Margaret, and she only does that when she‘s pissed at me.” Maggie replied, burying her face in Mikey’s chest so he wouldn’t see the tears in her eyes.
She knew seeing her cry would render Mikey speechless, and he would wonder what he could have possibly done to hurt her feelings, even though these tears were happy tears. Mikey and his sensitive nature. Only one of the myriad of reasons why Maggie loved him.
She knew exactly how lucky she was to be able to call him her boyfriend, and to know that when he said he loved her, he meant it with every fiber of his being. Mikey was the most sincere person she knew, and he would never say anything that important if he didn’t mean it completely.
Maggie knew that their meeting had been a lucky coincidence. She hadn’t even heard of My Chemical Romance until her boss gave her the assignment to cover their gig at a local club. The interview had been her first big story, and she was so afraid of fucking it up that she could barely speak when she and the band met at the little coffee shop.
They had all put her at ease with their easy camaraderie, friendly jokes and good natures. It had been a great interview, and she readily accepted when Frankie insisted that she must get together with them after their show. She liked them all, but it was shy, quiet Mikey who intrigued her the most. And it took her all of a nanosecond after Frankie’s invitation to decide that no matter what, she was going to get Mikey to talk.
It only took her a few drinks and a few hours of talking to him and getting polite nods, ’mmmhmms’ and short, one word answers to get Mikey to finally begin to come out of his shell. Any later, and Maggie would have felt like a blathering idiot, as if she hadn’t felt that already, talking the poor boy’s ear off all night long.
And by the time dawn rolled around and the guys came ‘round to collect Mikey and hit their bunks until they made it to the next tour stop, Maggie and Mikey had a hard time letting go of each other’s hands. It was easy to see the sparks between the two, and they both knew this was going to be more than a simple friendship. Even though they took their time getting to know each other through e-mails, chats and phone calls, even though it took months before Mikey got up the courage to ask Maggie to be his girlfriend, and even though having a long distance relationship was hard for both of them, they had managed to stay together for nearly a year. They saw each other as often as they could, which was never often enough, but they persevered. And they both knew, deep down, they were meant for each other.
Maggie loved Mikey, Mikey loved Maggie, and that’s all they needed to know to be happy, simple as that.
Maggie heaved a deep sigh and looked up at Mikey. “I know. But...”
Mikey’s eyes widened. “But?”
“There’s getting to be less and less of you to love! Are you even eating?” Maggie asked, poking Mikey’s stomach.
Mikey pouted prettily. “I eat. Touring just takes it out of me. You should see the other guys, too. We’re all just skin and bones.”
“You, more than they, I bet. You need to eat more.” Maggie nodded. “More pasta, definitely. God, I should come along and cook for you guys.”
“You’d be kind of like a... class mother.” Mikey frowned. “Ew. I’d be in love with my *mother*. That’s even more weird than being in love with Gerard.”
Maggie sat up, laughing. “Speaking of, I found a fic I simply must show you!”
Mikey groaned. “You and your damn live journal. I don’t *want* to see it! Just... ew.”
Maggie sighed dramatically as she got up, taking Mikey’s hand and bringing him up with her. “I guess we’ll have to find another way to pass the time, then.”
Mikey grinned as he let Maggie lead him into the bedroom. “And whatever shall we do?”
Maggie winked as she closed the bedroom door behind them. “I’m sure we’ll figure something out. We always do.”
The door closed, and all that could be heard, if anyone but the pair had been in the apartment, were the sounds of long-separated lovers being reunited. The smacking of lips being pressed together urgently, the soft sighs and low moans of two people being reunited after so long apart. The sounds of love.
And there was nowhere else in the world these two would rather be than with each other. Now, and forever.
