R&R for the Chems

June 8, 2008: Our last full day in Maine.

ChemGuy and I had managed to fit quite a bit of fun into our honeymoon by that point, so we were ready for a bit of a lazy day. I took ChemGuy down to the harbor to watch the tall ship sail out again. We wrote out some postcards and grabbed a sandwich for lunch.

ChemGuy wanted to spend some more time with the rocks on the shore before we left Maine, so we headed back to the trail we'd been near the previous day. The skies were blue, and the sea was calm. Quite the contrast between the two days! True to form, I wandered along the path, taking photos and enjoying the air, while ChemGuy scampered along the rocks, mostly parallel to the path. We had remembered to cover-up with sunscreen, so our sun exposure didn't later become anything painful. I got a couple of splotches of burn. I contend that ChemGuy missed a couple of spots; ChemGuy contends that I was non-specific in my description of where sunscreen needed to be applied. Possibly, it was a bit of both. Either way, the hike was another enjoyable one.

ChemGuy and I agreed that we were fancy-fooded-out for a bit, so for dinner, we visited a local pub. I was served the 2nd-best bloody mary I've ever had. I suppose judging by the rest of our Maine experiences, I shouldn't have been surprised. But I was nonetheless. The title of "Second Best Bloody Mary" is extremely high praise. I'm pretty sure #1 will never be toppled. I shared with our server how great the drink was; she promised to pass that along to the bartender. I enjoyed a cup of seafood bisque and a grilled chicken sandwich for dinner. ChemGuy enjoyed the basketball game on TV. (The Boston was playing LA in the finals. That night was game 2, in Boston. Despite our current home address, we were both cheering for the East Coast Team.)

Less action than some of our other Maine days, but just as enjoyable. Sometimes, a little less action is just what the doctors ordered.
