2007: The Year In Review

Dec 31, 2007 21:29

Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?:
A whole hell of a lot less. I only finished 10. Wow.

What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January 2007?:
Torchwood. Because I hadn’t heard of it then.

What's your favorite story of the year?:
Building Fronts Were Just Fronts. Because Suzie is so much fun to write.

Did you take any writing risks this year?:
Yeah. I finished a story in a way that made only me happy. Whatever. That’s why I’m doing this.

Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the New Year?:
Keep up the quality over quantity thing that appears to have hit. Wow. That was a pretentious statement, no?

From my past year of writing, what was...

My Favorite Story: Right now, it’s Building Fronts Were Just Fronts.

My Best Story: A tie between Tears Dry On Their Own and Thought I Saw You In Vegas, judging by people’s reactions.

Story Most Underappreciated by the Universe: Building Fronts Were Just Fronts which had, what, one reader?

Most fun: Ummm… I’m not exactly known for fun stories. I had fun working on the 1sentence fics, though. They can be found here.

Most disappointing: Head Full Of Ghosts, which was supposed to spawn something much bigger. Instead, it just sat there. Also, the very last sentence needs to be cut.

Most sexy: Card Castle (Make Your Own Fate). Wow. That’s really fucking disturbing.

Story With a Single Sexy Moment: Little Plastic Castle. What does this say about me?

Hardest to Write: Made Of Stars, which took forever to come together into something vaguely resembling a remotely decent story.

Most Unintentionally Telling: A tie (again) between Tears Dry On Their Own and Thought I Saw You In Vegas. Read into them what you will. I know what they mean to me.

01) Was 2007 a good year for you?
Some parts were good, and some were not.

02) What was your favourite moment of the year?
That whole tremendous feeling of relief when AGE pulled open the door, called me back into the room, shook my hand, and said, “Congrats! You passed!”.

03) What was your least favourite moment of the year?
There are several.

04) Where were you when 2007 began?
Very very very drunk in my recliner.

05) Who were you with?
NOBODY! It was just me, some alcohol (don’t remember what I was drinking), and Sushi. And I had a lot of fun.

06) Where will you be when 2007 ends?
Well, I’ve already cracked open my second drink of the evening. I will be staying in, perhaps watching some movies, and finding ways of entertaining myself.

07) Who will you be with when 2007 ends?
With Sushi, Stella, and some Ketel One.

08) Did you keep your new years resolution of 2007?
I wanted to get my house clean and keep it that way. Yeah… So didn’t happen.

09) Do you have a new years resolution for 2008?
To not be a lazy ass?

10) Did you fall in love in 2007?
No.

11) If yes, with who?
This does not apply.

12) If yes, do they know?
Stop it.

13) Are you still in love with them?
No, really. Stop it.

14) Do you regret it?
I don’t regret anything.

15) Did you break-up with anyone in 2007?
If by break-up, you mean run screaming the other way at the first signs of anything developing, then, yes.

16) Did you make any new friends in 2007?
You could say that, and you wouldn’t be wrong.

17) Who are your favourite new friends?
They know who they are.

18) What was your favorite month of 2007?
December has been pretty good to me.

19) Did you travel outside of your country in 2007?
Sadly, no.

21) Did you lose anybody close to you in 2007?
In a manner of speaking, yes.

22) Did you miss anybody in the past year?
I have been known to be nostalgic.

23) What was your favourite movie that you saw in 2007?
Eeep! This is hard. But I’m gonna go with… Zodiac.

24) What was your favourite song from 2007?
Another tough call, but I’m gonna go with “Don’t You Evah” by Spoon. I spent the entire time I was in San Diego singing it. Also really liked “Can’t Tell Me Nothing” by Kanye West. And “Back To Black” by Amy Winehouse. You know what? I need to make a mix for the flisters.

25) What was your favourite record from 2007?
Hands down, Interpol’s Our Love To Admire was the best record released this year. I haven’t taken it out of my car since it came out. Which was in July, people! It is the knottiest, most complicated, and most rewarding aural experience. Runners up: 23 by Blonde Redhead and Back To Black by Amy Winehouse.

26) How many concerts did you see in 2007?
Ugh. NONE! Because my plans in September were thwarted.  However, I do have one lined up for January. Yay!

27) Did you have a favourite concert in 2007?
Well, if I didn’t see any, I can’t have a favorite ;)

28) Did you drink a lot of alcohol in 2007?
OMFG! Do you not see that I have a tag dedicated to my adventures? I’m a fucking grad student, okay.

29) Did you do a lot of drugs in 2007?
Legal? More than I’d like to.

30) How many people did you sleep with in 2007?
I’m so not answering that.

31) Did you do anything you are ashamed of this year?
Despite some people’s best intentions, I am not ashamed of that one event.

33) What was the worst lie someone told you in 2007?
There was an incident in October that was nothing but one big lie.

34) Did you treat somebody badly in 2007?
Only someone who I felt deserved it.

35) Did somebody treat you badly in 2007?
Yes. Please see number 33. And that’s all I’m going to say about that.

36) How much money did you spend in 2007?
Far too much. I don’t even want to think about it.

37) What was your proudest moment of 2007?
August 14. Followed very closely by the poster presentations in San Diego in November, when I got a shit ton of people interested in what I do.

38) What was your most embarrassing moment of 2007?
Well, ummm… Misread signals. The fact that I fucked up something that could’ve been fun. Seriously. “A Mistake” should be my theme song.

39) If you could go back in time to any moment of 2007 and change something, what would it be?
I would try to keep me from getting in the way of myself.

40) What are your plans for 2008?
Pittcon seminar on my birthday. Writing articles. Working my ass off. Neuroscience posters. I don’t know what else.
