http://www.miamiherald.com/opinion/opn-columns-blogs/leonard-pitts-jr/article161473023.html I've been saying this for a long time, admittedly with less charm than Pitts--"How time has trudged," indeed.
Trump didn't get into that WH by himself. He couldn't have. And 88% of Trump supporters continue to support him. They don't care about the Russian connection (all lies--I heard a woman supporter tell a reporter, "We believe him, not you."). They don't care about the constant lies (because "we believe him, not you"). Some of us have felt sorry for them, "They know not what they do. They will be the ones most affected by the health care bill." They are like vampire groupies, who feel honored and proud when he pierces their necks and sucks their lifeblood. They won't die; they're going to a better place, circa the 1950's.
In general, they aren't people who read The New York Times or stay incredibly aware of current affairs. Certainly, they don't dig deep. But their pride is now involved. They can't admit the nature of reality because then they would have been hoodwinked. Far better than acknowledging the scandal-generator that is the Trump Presidency. At least the Black guy isn't President any more.
