Quick catch up entry ...
The job ... I emailoed and put forward an initial offer of £42000 or £30 an hour contract, and made it clear that I was happy to negotiate but that because of the complicated tax credit situation, it would be easier if he could give me a budget to work to. Heard nothing, followed up on Monday, got a reply saying he'd look at their bidget on Wednesday and get back to me, but I haven't heard anything since. Will email again on Tuesday but am thinking I blew it by pitching too high .... but it is a huge project and I'd want it to be worth my while!
Weekend was good. Lazy day atSteve's on Sat, at least, lazy once we'd gone on a bit of a wild goose chase for a compost bin for him, but we did eventually get one, and spent the evening eating and drinking, several bottles of wine and half a bottle of vodka, eek. Good fun though ;) Sunday we went to Wembley Stadium to see his team, Torquay United, play Cambridge United in the Conference play-off final. Very entertaining game and luckily Torquay won 2-0, securing a return to the Football League. Steve was really nervous about it, it was lovely to see him smiling afterwards!
Not really sure what I've done all week. Oh yes ... the magazine was due at the printers Wed 9am so the first two days were spent doing that. Tuesday my new desk was delivered so Wed was spent tidying the dining room .. it's incredible the amount of scrap paper one person can generate, and I spent half the day throwing stuff out, sorting through drawers and hoovering up staples and biscuit crumbs! O)ncew it was done it took me another three hours to put the desk together, and an hour on Thursday untangling the computer wires and setting it all up again (along with a fab widescreen monitor that Steve has lent me). It's all done now and looks very organised and tidy - just got to keep it that way now!
Had a networking meeting on Thurs morning but since then I've struggled to get any work done. I need to get the country show programme done in the next few days, and was determined to start on it today, but I'm having something of a tinnitus attack which distracted me all afternoon. I've always been aware that there was something going on - even as a child I'd get sudden high pitched noises that would come and go, but it's been getting worse lately, and today it hasn't let up all day, it's still whistling away in my head now. I've actually made a doctor's appointment to get it checked out. Strangley, when I mentioned it to the kids, they both said that they get high pitched noises too ...
One social event this week, a BookCrossing meet at a new OBCZ in a pub in a nearby town. The organiser, a friend of mine, had to pull out as she's ill, so it ended up being me and Steve, my mum and a couple I know through the magazine. The new landlady at the pub is a bookcrossr herself and ran a successful OBCZ in a pub in London, but this pub we went to was completely unsuitable, quite rough, a real locals pub and not very welcoming. We had a good natter but it wasn't the most successful night ever.
Plans for the weekend - a brief visit from my brother and his family tomorrow, who is stopping off at my mum's to drop off his cat en route to a week's holiday in Torquay;possibly a BBQ tomorrow evening, if the weather is good; rifle shooting and the Monaco GP on Sunday; and maybe a trip to the Cotswold Wildlife Park on Monday.
have a lovely bank holiday weekend :)
